Heh. Right now you are in Phase 1 of a "The Happening" viewer. A feeling of disgust. A feeling you lost 2 hours of your life.

Phase 2 is more contemplative. Questions arise. You start to replay it in your head. Mark Wahlberg talking like a 14 year old with his balls in a vice. The man with his arm ripped off by the lion. The scene where the kids are shot. You start laughing hysterically.

Phase 3. Acceptance. YOu realize, that in some strange way, this trainwreck of a movie was more interesting in its awful execution than previous given credit. Behold, M. Night Shamylan, the 21st century Ed Wood.

It didn't help that every time Wahlberg was on screen I was waiting for him to talk to animals.

I really enjoyed Walked Hard: Dewey Cox story. There were a lot of good moments satirizing the pro typical rise and fall musicians seem to experience. One of my favorite parts of the movie is when Dewey is playing like Bob Dylan and two of his bandmates have absolutely no idea what it's about. Then Tim Meadows says something such as "You guys are idiots. This guy is DEEP." It's just so true how divided he makes people.

Sorry Bob Dylan.

Instead of talking to plants.

It's really an underrated movie and I'm glad with all the cameos in the movie not one was made by Will Ferrell.

Walk Hard opened up against Charlie Wilson's war, P.S. I love you, Sweeney Todd, and National Treasure 2 (all first week releases) with Juno, I am legend, Enchanted, and NCFOM still in the theatres. http://boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?yr...d=51&p=.htm

I rented "The Happening" from the redbox last night, and I want my dollar back. He had to make that movie as a tribute to Ed Wood, right? I laughed so hard at the lion part. What is an old woman like that doing with an iphone and why is her screen picture in better quality than the movie itself? How was that video sent out? Wouldn't person controlling the video capture be affected? HORRIBLE. The deleted scenes were even worse, but even he admitted the movie wasn't that good with those scenes in.

I saw Religulous this weekend. Liked it. Nothing groundbreaking and you pretty much get what you would expect from a Bill Maher documentary. It had me laughing all the way throughout until about the last 5 minutes but it does leave you thinking about an important topic that I think too many people just ignore or are afraid to discuss.

Has anyone seen the movie "The Invisible"? I caught about 3/4 of the movie the other night, and i thought it was pretty interesting. A kid gets attacked by some "friends" and is left for dead, but they actually think he is dead. The kid has an out of body experience and starts following around the responsible parties trying to convince them to tell people where he is. They can sense him, and one girl can actually hear him, so it makes for an interesting concept.

The movie was directed by David Goyer, its pretty dark overall.

That movie is f***ing miserable... the girl who attacks him, the stereotypical "misunderstood bad girl from abusive parents" has ninja like skills and a magic knife that she uses like secret agent.

The concept was good, interesting, but the execution was piss poor.

I saw Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Essentially it's Juno but not as funny or as entertaining. Lots of teen angst. I'm totally indifferent to it. My girlfriend liked it, but I cannot, for the life of me, understand why.

Also saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Some parts are hilarious, but not the overall good movie that I was expecting. Worth seeing though.

Michael Cera has the acting range of John Heder. That movie was a miserable attempt at capturing hipster lifestyle with teen drama. There was no point where I cared about any of the characters, and the story lacked any kind of cohesion.

Norah has an orgasm and its recorded OMG!?!?! Take your f***ing clothes off slut! This geeky f***ing nerd gets her off by double clicking her mouse? Me thinks not.

Sarah Marshall was disappointing as well... the Apatow crew act is wearing a little thin on me (Pineapple Express was pretty bad too) so I'm hoping they can show a little more depth in their next movie.

did you wake up on the wrong side of the critic bed? Seen anything you actually liked....ever?

Apaloosa looks like it could be good, anyone see it yet?

Quarantine was just awful, don't waste your money on that garbage, not scary, I found it to be rather funny.

Decent, but not even that good. For about 20 minutes at the end, it becomes unbearably boring, and the last 5 minutes are good.

LOL, superb response

I was looking at RottenTomatoes today to see what they said about new movies out. I read the reviews for Max Payne, which looks like its just as bad as the silly previews. This line in one review in particular cracked me up (about Max Payne):

Maybe somebody decided the movie was already so convoluted and leaden that throwing in a few swooping, screeching valkyries could only help. They do not.

Anyone plan on seeing W? At first, I thought it looked like it would just be one long Bush-bash (could be a good porn), so I wasn't interested in seeing it. But, then I read that it wasn't really like that. Now I'm considering going to it.

There is a thread on this in the Buster as well.

Preface: I consider myself to be a Moderate, who leans conservative fiscally and liberal socially. I was against the War originally, and think we now have to finish the job.

That being said I just got back from seeing "W" and I thought it was well done, outside of some of the archetypal imitations from some of the actors (Thandie newton, I'm looking at you). If Oliver Stone set out to bury president bush, which he contends that he didn't, I think he failed. The Bush in "W" is by most accounts very likable, perhaps even comparable to MacBeth as an anti-hero. Stone's version of the president seems to have good intentions, but is led astray by an Oedipus complex and poor advice from his cabinet members.

I cannot attend to the accuracy of the movie, because who really knows? However, what you see in "W" seems to be a plausible theory about the motivations of a son trying to prove to everybody - and even himself - that he can be make a name for himself.

The film toes a fine line as it tries to keep the story unbiased, but there are a few parts that aimed at its likely audience. Still, I think the movie was a success in my eyes. It made its commentary - like it or not - but still kept the integrity of the general theme.

I'm giving it 3/4 bouncing boobies.

It's about time someone had the balls to abandon the tired star-based ranking system and adopt a fresh new scale based on bouncing tits

Nice review by the way

Nice review by the way

Michael Butler of the Good Clean Fun podcast uses the "zero, one or two erect nipples" rating system for movies.

Walked out of Religulous last night. That's the first time I've ever walked out. It wasn't bad, it was just my gf had a s***ty attitude going in (she claims she's religious) and I pretty much knew she wasn't going to like it or give it a chance. She got mad when he was making fun of the mormons and using the Michael Jackson example of going from black to white, and told me she would be outside. I waited a minute, but found her in the parking lot, not the lobby, and told her "I knew you'd do this" and that I didn't want to go back in there after she suggested it.

I knew I should went by myself earlier in the week but she told me to wait until Friday because she wanted to see it too.
