September 12, 200718 yr QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) Looks like Kevin Everett is going to walk again. Absolutely fantastic news. If true, thank goodness.
September 12, 200718 yr “Kevin Everett is moving his arms and legs, his legs stronger than his arms,” said the consulting doctor [to Andrew Cappuccino], the neurosurgeon Barth Green. “He’s moving them both to a point, to a degree that he will end up walking. He will walk out of the hospital.” New York Times Incredible. This Andrew Cappuccino dude not only has a sugary coffee drink named after him, but he's a pretty damn good doctor too, along with Barth Green, and whoever all helped with the surgery. He will walk out of the hospital...that's absolutely remarkable. Thank God and modern medicine.
September 12, 200718 yr So I see Charlie Frye got traded already for the Browns. That Brady Quinn deal for the Cowboys is going to go down as one of the best trades ever when it's said and done, the Browns look like a bottom 5 team at this standpoint. That franchise has really been a mess from the get go. My guess is they'll go out for Parcells or Bill Cowher in the off-season.
September 12, 200718 yr I will be really suprised if Cowher gets off the mat to coach again. I know how the league works on recycling coaches and all, but I really pegged Cowher as the type to say he is done and mean it.
September 12, 200718 yr QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 07:33 AM) I will be really suprised if Cowher gets off the mat to coach again. I know how the league works on recycling coaches and all, but I really pegged Cowher as the type to say he is done and mean it. I don't think he ever said he was done. Just tired and needed a break and wanted to spend some family time. He'll be back and it'll be so weird.
September 12, 200718 yr Green said the key was the quick action taken by Cappuccino to run an ice-cold saline solution through Everett's system that put the player in a hypothermic state. Doctors at the Miami Project have demonstrated in their laboratories that such action significantly decreases the damage to the spinal cord due to swelling and movement. "We've been doing a protocol on humans and having similar experiences for many months now," Green said. "But this is the first time I'm aware of that the doctor was with the patient when he was injured and the hypothermia was started within minutes of the injury. We know the earlier it's started, the better." Amazing information on the treatment and the great work by the doctor.
September 13, 200718 yr I laughed when I read that the Chargers called him "soft" and said he'll roll over if you stop him and talk trash.
September 13, 200718 yr Oh, and if I recall correctly, we shouldn't be jumping the gun on Everett. He likely won't be walking out of the hospital. They called that a stretch on the news, if I recall correctly.
September 13, 200718 yr Ron Rivera called Rex Grossman a mental midget. At least he didn't add, "A physical one, too."

September 13, 200718 yr QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 10:25 AM) He can move and kick his legs, but cant move his hands. I don't know much about the situation but I read or saw that it's "a stretch" to say he'll be able to walk out of the hospital and that, in fact, walking "someday" was a "more reasonable" goal. Wish him the best, of course. Hope I heard wrong. Edited September 13, 200718 yr by Gregory Pratt

Wish him the best, of course. Hope I heard wrong. Definitely a stretch. The progress is going to be slower than they thought as the swelling hasnt entirely gone down yet, which is a huge part of seeing what will happen with the spinal cord.
September 13, 200718 yr QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 10:24 AM) Ron Rivera called Rex Grossman a mental midget. At least he didn't add, "A physical one, too." that doesnt make sense at all, rex grossman had to learn like 3-4 different offenses in as many seasons, and supposedly one of his strong suits is just that being able to learn an offense.

Well, there's a reason that Rivera couldn't get a HC job anywhere and had to take the LB coach job.
September 13, 200718 yr QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) Well, there's a reason that Rivera couldn't get a HC job anywhere and had to take the LB coach job. He couldnt even get a coordinators job. And from what babich has shown, he appears better at calling a defense than Ron was.
September 13, 200718 yr I didn't like Rivera much either but I agree that Grossman is a mental midget who collapses under pressure.
September 13, 200718 yr QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 10:09 AM) I didn't like Rivera much either but I agree that Grossman is a mental midget who collapses under pressure. A lot of QB's, especially young ones, struggle with dealing with pressure. I think Rex held up fairly well with what the Chargers threw at him last week. But this season will be the telling one for him.
September 13, 200718 yr Rivera is a douche and there is a reason he got fired and took a lesser job the year after being the DC of a Super Bowl team, but he's right about Rex.
September 13, 200718 yr QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 01:46 PM) Rivera is a douche and there is a reason he got fired and took a lesser job the year after being the DC of a Super Bowl team, but he's right about Rex. To be fair, that Super Bowl team was the Bears.
September 13, 200718 yr QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) A lot of QB's, especially young ones, struggle with dealing with pressure. I know Rex hasn't started a ton of games for the Bears but he's been here for a few years already.
September 13, 200718 yr QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) I know Rex hasn't started a ton of games for the Bears but he's been here for a few years already. As your avatar implies...in some cases there is no substitute for the real thing. There is no substitute for having to hang in the pocket as Shaun Phillips bears down on you. You simply can't learn how to take that on the sidelines. Which is why this is the key season for Rex...the biggest progress for most QB's happens after about the first full season, which Rex has now had.

I'm not buying that he's still wet behind the ears. You don't get any more pressure than being in a Super Bowl.
