Agreed. I thought Mizzou got a ton of calls early, then we got 3 or 4 bad calls their way in a row. My comments were on college officials in general, they suck.

Also, I my memory may not be exactly right on this, but wasn't that basically the exact same finish as last years game where Hannah lost his dribble and Mizzou didn't get a shot off.

The curse amazingly lives!! I wonder if Missouri could ever beat Illinois now, they have a decent squad and the Illini just blow. What an ugly game, but Pruitt is a man and Trent kept it close with some big shots. I can't say much more, but at least it's good to know of some certains in life, like:

 

1. Death

2. Taxes

3. The Cubs and World Series will never go together again

4. Missouri athletics are the joke of the midwest

 

Oh, and the Illini fans who were screaming out, loudly and proudly, the "BCS!! BCS!!!" chants after the game are outstanding. Well done, that had to have left some people pissed off from Misery, almost as much as the painfully true chant than the game itself.

Oakland over Oregon?

Now Jiri Hubalek making Purdue his punkass b****, 16 points in the last 5:50.

Yep, that has to be the most bizarre result this year so far when you consider how awful Kentucky is. Oakland is a game below .500 even. I assume this game was a gift for the 3 Detroit area players on Oregon, but oops.

ISU with a big win, 83-80 over Purdue. Hopefully its a sign things are moving in the right direction.

 

Tomorrow, we play Bama, my mortal college basketball enemy, in the Championship.

Actually I think the BCS chant was stupid. Sure some Mizzou fans probly got pissed, but it's not that clever. We weren't playing football. When we did, they beat us. And we all know they should be in. It would have been even more of a dumb chant had we lost...

 

Some sort of chant that emphasizes 8 in a row would be better. Yes, 8 in a f***ing row. How hard is that to rub in? Not very. Nothing was more retarded than walking out of the Savvis Center (a few years ago) every year and having people yell "illinois football (clap clap clap clap clap)" or "yeah, well your football team sucks." It's irrelevant, as football has nothing to do with the game that was just played.

This lessens how worried I am about Purdue during Big 10 season (which will probably bite me in the ass when we eventually play them)

Missouri played poorly. Illinois should have given Pruitt the ball more. He had 10 points in the first 11 minutes of the game and finished with 14. That's pretty inexcusable. Illinois' guards struggled with the press for bits so maybe they were unable to get him the ball or something.

 

Also, Hannah did f up the same way last year and shot 2-12 in this game. He grew up rooting for Illinois according to the announcers. He seriously might have wanted Illinois to win. I'm not sure if I'm kidding or not either. Edit: apparently it was his twin Keon Lawrence who fumbled it this year. Hannah still sucked though.

 

As for Carroll, he is too short to play the way he does. He is essentially worthless against good teams because good teams have tall people. Carroll is great against the likes of Coppin State because he can get the offensive rebounds to his repeated missed layups.

 

It's a shame, I was really hoping to whip out the "Just like football" chant. Thank God for Chase Daniel because otherwise I'd be f***ing transferring right now.

Seems to be happening a lot. Can't blame the guards too much there...he wasn't getting position as much as he was earlier in the game. I think he may have a conditioning problem or something. What's really good though for Illinois is that they don't need to give him the ball only when he's a foot away from the basket anymore. These last two games he's somehow come up with an impressive range of moves where he's able to work himself in.

We played a lot better tonight...ever since we stopped taking the air out of the ball, really. We have a hard time against the press, but Diante Garrett pretty much dominated at will last nite.

Nope, but I'm watching via webcast. Bama was 6-8 from behind the arc in the first half, but couldn't withstand a barrage from Wes Johnson, who has something like 13 and 9 in the first half.

Without watching the game, it seems like ISU is focused on stopping Hendrix. I've seen plenty of Alabama games, and the best plan of action vs them is to let Hendrix get his 25 pts, and take away Gee/Riley's outside game.

Gee killed us. I think the final was 83-68.

 

Bama kept up the torrid shooting all night. Either way, it's a game that'll benefit us.
