DeKalb police reports at least three people have been shot at Cole Hall. There are several ambulances on the scene. The incident apparently happened around 3:15 p.m.

I'm an NIU student and I know we have more on this board. Don't go anywhere near King Commons, Cole, Neptune, etc.

I was thinking while driving home from work a few minutes ago, it's one of those things where they come in bunches. One instance and it's random. But that gives the next more "courage" to go with their plan. 2 leads to 3. 3 leads to 4. Ect...

Oh s***, it just crossed my screen. to all.

 

I know it's a big campus, but it still is scary when people you know are around there.

There has been a shooting at Northern Illinois

University in DeKalb.

 

A nearby building, Cole Hall, was the site of multiple

shootings. About 45 minutes ago students came running

into our library frantically in a state of panic.

 

We locked down the library immediately.

The campus has been closed.

 

A death has been reported, a faculty member. Other

victims also seem apparent.

 

I have no other details.

 

The want the building completely empty so I am leaving

work now.

I've heard at least one person is DOA, and there's rumors of multiple shooters. Hopefully the report that the shooter took their own life is accurate.

The students are all on lockdown, so they might not post right away.

 

This is craziness, it happened right in my old stomping grounds of the NIU Communications Dept (graduated a little over 2 years ago) and I stayed in Neptune for a year. I hope all of my teachers are alright.

There was a threat a few months ago, but I doubt this is tied to it.

WGN reports that the NIU Police Chief confirms suspect is in custody (even though I've heard from someone on the scene they're dead).

I think that comment is meant more out of concern than out of curiosity. at least that's how i took it.

Just talked to my sister. Her BF goes to Northern. She says he is ok and to the best of his knowledge all his friends are ok as well.

This is tragic, i hope for the best for you huskies.

PS: Thumbs up to CNN for covering the shooting. Thumbs down to MSNBC for burring their head in the sand and going Obama / CLinton wall to wall.

 

I definitely think that the "get posting" thing was that we wanted everyone to check in so we knew that all was safe. I don't need to know what happened other then our fellow soxtalkers are ok.... and that no one is very seriously hurt.

 

This really gets closer and closer, Hope all is well at NIU. Thoughts and Prayers all around. I go to ISU and have friends at NIU, all are alright so far.
