June 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) Very well spoken player. The most composed I've heard all day. Absolutely. I said it earlier, but I really think he has the potential to be a very popular player if he makes it to the big leagues. In a completely heterosexual way, he's a good looking guy, polite (i.e. "Mr. Gammons"), cracked a couple jokes in there... Has the makings of a popular guy. The one thing that may hurt him is how little he relates to the typical, blue-collar Sox fan, and you can see that in how a few of you have already made comments about his bad accent and bad haircut, etc.
June 5, 200817 yr You're Gordon Beckham haven... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65302

June 5, 200817 yr Here's the biggest compliment you can get: Ga Tech fans think he's an amazing player.

Look fits as well. We'll absolutely love him (if he's producing) and other teams will hate him because of his talent and outspoken personality. Oh, and yeah, the women will love this guy.
June 5, 200817 yr He is far from the most talented player available, but he is hard nosed and is very baseball smart. His swing isn't the prettiest, but he's got some skill with the bat.
June 5, 200817 yr I like the pick. Beckham at short, Richar at 2B (if he starts hitting) and Ramirez in CF. He also looks like Gavin Floyd's little brother.
June 5, 200817 yr I know this may be a little selfish, but I hope Casey Kelly falls a bit, so he'll come to Tennessee. I think I could like a potential NFL QB on our football team and a potential Big League SS on our baseball team. Though, I get the feeling the Cubs will take him, and if they do, they definitely have the resources to get him signed. Edited June 5, 200817 yr by dasox24

June 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) cubs gonna steal your potential qb at UT? Haha, look above. I don't want him to sign with a baseball team, but if it's the Cubs, that will be even worse. If he's gonna play baseball, I just really hope it's with someone other than the Cubs. June 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) Cubs on the clock. Any guesses? I've heard C. Kelly for two weeks now.

And, yes, I agree, his sexiness rivals Egberts....err...yeah
June 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) Cubs on the clock. Any guesses? Hopefully not Shooter Hunt. I love his arm, and would hate to watch him pitch across town.
June 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) He can use Hillary Clinton to appeal to blue collar Sox fans. Maybe they can take a few shots together with some Sox fans...
June 5, 200817 yr YESS!!! EDIT: Damn, I just realized the Tigers may very well take Kelly. That would be even worse than the Cubs taking him. As long as he isn't taken by the Tigers or Indians, I guess I'll be happy. Edited June 5, 200817 yr by dasox24
June 5, 200817 yr The more I look at the stats, the harder it is to say that you could really pick Smoak over Beckham, unless you just saw something or fell in love with him (Smoak).
June 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 08:47 PM) cubs looking for help for this year maybe?? If they're looking for immediate help, they'd take Josh Fields.
June 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) Cubs take Cashner. Wow, surprising. He fits their pitching mold though. Here's to a s***ty career Cashner!
June 5, 200817 yr Uh oh, isn't Cashner the pitcher who teams were thinking could be converted into a front line starter? It'd love to have additional selections for just this reason. You'd never take Cashner around our slot, but around 15-20 you can take a risk that he's either a great reliever or possible convert.
