An .814 career OPS makes you a productive offensive player. But there is a big difference between a good hitter and a productive offensive player. Adam Dunn is a very productive offensive player, but he's a mediocre hitter, and on the other side, Juan Pierre is a very good hitter, but not a productive offense player between the lack of power and all the caught stealings.

So being a good hitter means you have to make some sort of contact on the ball even though you dont really have the ability to see the location of the ball nor have the discipline of being able to lay off bad pitches? Hmmmm Or is it just BA with you? regardless of OBP or SLG?

Gotta laugh at AJP getting pr for by Owens. I guess Ozzie hasn't realized he could have just ph for AJP and have someone bunt. I'm pretty sure that Bouregois is a fantastic bunter.

Anyone know if B.J. Ryan is warming up in the Toronto pen?

OK, with those definitions I will agree with you, but I would take Adam Dunn over Juan Pierre everyday of the week and twice on Sunday

So would I. My point is that Dunn and Swisher aren't good hitters at all, but they hit for power and draw walks. That is far more important than hitting for average, but I am responding to the orginal idea that Swisher has a "proven track record as a godd hitter". He doesn't at all.

He's better than AJ, s*** Jerry is better than AJ.

0-2 base hit off macD, hilarious, just serve it up there

Honestly, that's the 5th time in 15 games he's messed up a bunt situation (AJ).

So did AJ get hurt? If not, then Oz really added insult to injury by taking AJ out of the game after his failed bunt rather than letting somebody on the bench attempt it (at least according to sportsline who says paul phillips (?) is catching now).

McDougal on the verge of s***ting the bed.

Game.

Remember this gas can looked great when the pressure is off. The minute a little pressure is applied he folds like a tent.

So we pulled Thornton just because Rolen was up? Does Ozzie know that Rolen is a terrible hitter now?

OK, I was using "hitter" as a generic term for person who produces offensively. Swisher has a track record for producing offensively in MLB

Mac had been good up until today. Inglett right on the plate. Throw inside and back him off.

Yet again this idiot f***ing team continues to put September callups into crucial situations. Just idiotic.

Game.

You're about 15 pages late on that call.

I hope McDonald hits a three run shot here and puts us out of our misery. Quick and painless plz.

Mike MacDougal..... I hate you.

Pressure is off, he looks good. Put some pressure on him, he buckles like a belt.

Using Wasserman/Ramirez/MacDougal out of the pen means at the hint of Richards trouble tonight DJ better be up and ready with the whole pen ready to back him up

Indicative of a team thats on fire, 2 out base hits and RBI's, hitting sinking pitches into the OF, having a guy with bad control almost no-hit the other team. They have everything going their way right now.

Maybe Ryan won't be able to throw strikes, and instead of taking the walks, we'll laydown bunts that will end in doubleplays

Oh wait.
