March 14, 200917 yr i really, really, really dislike Devendorf. I would love to see someone swat one of his three pointers into the 15th row after all the trash talking he does
March 14, 200917 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 12:50 AM) LOL@the two guys saying "OH MY GOD!" about 15 times. Thanks for both of these. What a shot. Here is a better quality video of the shot
March 14, 200917 yr QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 03:36 AM) I understand that part, but the committee is supposed to be smarter than that. The real problem it is impossible to know how good Memphis is right now. Teams getter better as the season goes on so the team that played in November and December may not be the Memphis team now, but because they haven't played anyone good since that time it is hard to really evaluate how much they have improved.

Agreed. One thing I am very sure of is they are incredibly tall and long (2nd tallest team in America) and they play absolutely fantastic defense. They are also talented, obviously. But they are one of the worst shooting 3 point teams in America, and Tyreke Evans, as good as he is, still is a guy I don't think can handle playing point guard against very good teams. Memphis is a sweet 16 type of team in my opinion, maybe elite 8 if they get a good draw, maybe lose in the 2nd round if they get a bad draw.
March 14, 200917 yr QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) Memphis is a sweet 16 type of team in my opinion, maybe elite 8 if they get a good draw, maybe lose in the 2nd round if they get a bad draw. Which is where I stand and I think a lot of other people do too. So the question is why are they getting rewarded for not playing anyone? We can't judge how much they've improved, so let's assume they are one of the top 5 teams in the country. There really is no logic to support such a claim, which is all ESPN is saying. I know ESPN is bad, but still.
March 14, 200917 yr I'm not going to make an argument for Memphis' resume but I'll make an argument for their team. IMO they are by far the best defensive team in the nation and as has been said they've grown a lot as a team since November and December. You beat Gonzaga in Spokane and you're doing something right. I'll say right now that I believe Memphis is going to be back in the final four. Quote me on that.
March 14, 200917 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) You beat Gonzaga in Spokane and you're doing something right. I'll say right now that I believe Memphis is going to be back in the final four. Quote me on that. I don't want to sound like an ass, but I think you have a mid-major bias here because Gonzaga is freaking terrible. It's a damn shame St. Mary's couldn't finish pantsing them with a healthy Mills. I'll be very surprised if Memphis makes the final four.
March 14, 200917 yr I don't know why Lundardi has Creighton in. How is it that their 24 point loss in the semi's could get them in. I'm still bitter about the ISU snub last year.
March 15, 200917 yr I have absolutely zero faith in Memphis this year, they're going to have to have a road to Detroit that's full of flawed teams that they can physically dominate, because I don't see them beating a solid opponent. Even playing in Conference USA they're only at 44.4% from the field on the year and don't have a single dependable outside shooter. I also simply don't trust Evans to make good decisions late in games when they absolutely need a bucket. I really think they're getting carry-over credit from last year when Rose and Roberts dominated, and they don't have anything close to those guys anymore.

I have no bias for Gonzaga, you should know that I've pretty much hated Gonzaga forever. You're right that I do like mid majors more than most but I don't consider the Zags a mid major at all. I respect your opinion on this but I think highly of both the Zags and the Tigers this year.
March 15, 200917 yr If the committee has any sense of humor they will match up Kansas against the Binghamton Bearcats in the first round.

I'm still bitter about the ISU snub last year. The pool of at large teams last year was better than this year, and by a pretty wide margin. If Illinois State had put up the identical resume this season that they did last season, they'd have probably made the tournament. It's just bad timing and bad luck.

You can't blame Illinois State for those 2 losses to Indiana State. I mean Larry Bird was dynamic. Committee should over look those losses.
March 15, 200917 yr Author Personally, the only thing I don't like is Zona getting in over St. Mary's. Just me. St Mary's still played well without their best player and he is now back.
March 15, 200917 yr Only 4 non BCS at larges. They keep shrinking that number every year. It's getting bad. Arizona? You have to be kidding me.
March 16, 200917 yr QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) Only 4 non BCS at larges. They keep shrinking that number every year. It's getting bad. Arizona? You have to be kidding me. The most the non BCS schools could have claimed to deserve this year is 6, and that would have even been a mild stretch (I think they deserved one more, San Diego State should have been in over Wisconsin). The non BCS leagues simply aren't as good right now as they were 4 or 5 years ago, they need to step their game up. Edited March 16, 200917 yr by whitesoxfan101
March 16, 200917 yr I'm tired of this St. Mary's should of been in talk. They didn't play anybody. The one team they did play beat them 3 times, including a 25 point waxing. SD State, yeah. St. Mary's, no.
March 16, 200917 yr ....and the fact they scheduled a special game just to show off to the commitee this week. pompous idiots.
