Manager Ozzie Guillen can't stop talking about the sports car owned by 19-year-old Cuban third baseman Dayan Viciedo.

 

"If Alexei Ramirez is the Cuban Missle, then (Viciedo) is the Cuban pimp," Guillen laughed. "He's got a better car than everyone. He's got a car that's 150 grand."

 

The make and model of the car wasn't revealed, but Viciedo's power will be on display Thursday during the White Sox's first full-squad workout at Camelback Ranch.

i heard someone say it was like a $150,000 car....either way I saw a clip of him in a uniform w/jacket on over on comcast....he's definitely a big boy and at 19 hes weight will certainly have to be monitored...if this is the "in shape version" of him his weight will be a big issue in his career...not a deal breaker or anything that can't be dealt with...but if he gets bigger it will be a problem in the future as he ages

he's not fat...but hes big...when you see him with baseball pants on, youll see he's got some cushion over his muscle...like i said..from what i've seen of him..its not a problem now, and if he stays this size it won't be..but as guys age they pack some lbs on it could be a problem....of course, that also might not happen until well after he has played out his contract with us

I'd be very surprised if he is actually 19. But if the rumors are true that he is likely to start the year in triple a, and he's actually 22 or 23 with that kind of talent, we're still in good shape IMO.

It's just not that easy to forge documents anymore so I'd think that the proper age is on there.

He is 19. He will be 20 very soon. He has been competing in IBAF tournaments at age 15-16 (AA) and 17-18 (AAA). The White Sox can easily verify this. Older Cuban players may have had reasons to lie about their age in the past. Now, if you are caught, your contract may be voided.

I would just wonder why Cuba would want to lie about his age to themselves. This isnt as if he was trying to get a contract and he is lying about his age, he has been billed as a young superstar in the Cuba league.
