This we won't have money for anything because of Peavy and Rios is a bit much. We have a lot of money coming off the books over the next 2 years. We will be fine.

We are kind of straddled however due to the fact we have given a guy like Linebrink a 4 year contract. Its not the money, its the fact that he is here for 2 more years.

They money coming off the books is going to pay for their salaries. It's really only Jose and one of Dye or Thome (as I imagine we're going to have to keep one of them). If Jerry is pissed at our swoon and low attendance over the next month there might not be much money there after raises and such.

I meant for the sake of his heel, not fatigue.

And I still disagree. If CQ is injury prone then so be it. If he can play, he should play.

So we're complaining now that KW went out and landed a proven ace and a 5-tool, GG caliber CF? Newsflash: Guys like they don't come cheap. We're not exactly gonna file for bankruptcy anytime soon. There's a ton of money coming off the books this year. It's not like we need a brand new bullpen. Just another reliable arm or two. Not saying guys like that are easy to find. They're not. But it's doable.

im not complaining about anything and i think kw has done a great job. and i know we have the money. im just saying that kw has to get a few guys. uch as u stated, a bullpen arm or 2, and of, maybe even a dh, a decent back up

I'm officially moving on to the Bears as of tomorrow night. I'll still watch Sox games, but I have zero expectations of them making the playoffs.

Don't forget Dotel's 6 million.

Fair enough. Another thought I had is that maybe we should work Contreras and Dotel like rented mules and wear their asses out while we still have 'em

2/3 from the yankees, 2/3 from the Twins, 3/4 from Boston, 1/1 from Cubs. 8-3 in our next 11.

doable.

This is frustrating cuz we are getting walked off on. It's not like we're getting dominated.

My bad. Sounded like you were. Yeah, this team certainly isn't complete. Not many are. But most would agree the long-term prospects for this franchise starting next year have never looked better.

we do have some real good looking prospects, but do u think flowers, hudson, viciedo, etc will all be ready next yr?

Flowers and Hudson could be. I don't want to see Dayan anywhere near the Sox next year. And by the way, when I said "prospects," I meant the direction the franchise was going in (I.E. setting themselves up for an extended run of success starting next season). Not actual prospects. ;)

Nice road trip guys ... 1-4. What a bunch of pussies we have on our team. About as bad a road trip as many of us imagined. 1-4 and counting. What a joke. Each night a different goat from the bullpen. Equal opportunity failures.

One more? They haven't had a run all year. They're a .500 ball club.

At least after this road trip we better see all the young guys the entire month of September. Bring 'em all up.

Six in the loss column today ... s*** it could be 10 by the end of this trip.

PLAY THE YOUNG PROSPECTS from the minors all of September Kenny. Just do it. They can't do any worse than these guys.

And start planning on how to get rid of all these bullpen guys except for Bobby and Carrasco and Thornton.

It'll be interesting too see how Nunez does when he gets called up in September (has a real good arm). Might be a good sign having a kid (who IMO is ready) pitch for us next year, out of the pen making the league minimum. I like him and Link, whose had some bad luck this year though still has a nice K/IP.

I'd honestly be shocked if Bobby is with us next year.

maybe we can do waiver trades for the guys that we won't be bringing back next year.

I guess we wil see some player movement this off season. But, I just don't want to see this team roll over and play dead. We play the Tigers enough that if we were to win all our games against them it might put us back in first

I don't know if this was mentioned before but this game was lost when Rios didn't take 3rd when Quentin was thrown out at the plate. I'm still trying to figure that one out. Apparently, Rios' baseball instincts are lacking.

I was a little jacked about that myself...
