hmmm...and what if the Sox face the Dodgers in the World Series?

I have a friend who works for the League Office, so I'll have tickets, that's what.

I'm walking distance from Dodger Stadium, and there's a stellar Chicago Pizza place on the way. Masa of Echo Park. Never mind the owners print 'Cubs in ’09' at the bottom of every receipt.

As said before, we traded him so he could get a ring.

I'd pick him over Dye for DH next year though.

I'd thank both of them for their services and say "Never step foot on my field again, either of you. Take your slow beat up legs to another city."

You don't have to sprint around the bases after you hit it out of the park.

That, and the Sox don't have any type of left handed power in the lineup, and I imagine he's only going to sign with the White Sox or maybe Cleveland. If he doesn't get an offer from either, I think he hangs it up.

That's exactly what I'm thinking.

Chicago or Cleveland, and we'll be the much more appealing one to Thome.

Plus, Thome can draw walks and be as well as hit the long ball. I'll take the guy who can wear down pitchers and then jack one out.

If he would go back to Cleveland, that would be great for all of those young Indian players to learn from. Plus it would be kind of funny for those asshole fans to have to cheer for Jim again.

I think Thome wants to play one more season. I doubt he'll hit enough homeruns to make it in the top 10 this season but may make top ten list if he plays one more season.

Yay he hits 30 homeruns, but over 500 plate appearances. That leaves 470 strikeouts with a a few walks and hits scattered in there. Too bad his walks and hits are completely useless since it takes 3 more consecutive hits to score him.

They did Thome a favor and saved $1 million. Now if the impossible happens and the Sox go on a roll and make the playoffs and play the WS vs. the Dodgers and Thome DH's against the Sox and helps the Dodgers win, KW will never be able to live it down. However, odds are pretty long that scenerio plays out.

if we somehow make the world series i doubt kenny's going to have anything to be ashamed of.

That would be amazing but fellas we are 8 out in the loss column. If any other team was eight out in the loss column you'd say that team was dreaming to think it had 5 percent chance of the postseason.

If we were five out, yes, there'd be a decent chance. We made our bed on the road trip.

it's better than Scott Podsednik getting on base 600 times but getting picked off or caught stealing 570 times

Fun Fact: Jim Thome is currently tied with Sammy Sosa for 2nd place all-time in strikeouts.

Yes because the guys behind Thome hit nothing but bunt singles. GMAFB

Thome's being interviewed on ESPN 1000 right now.

"I love Chicago, I will live there forever, it's my city."

"We had a very frustrating season, I understand why I was traded."

"I want to play next year and DH in the American League."

"The White Sox would be my first choice, but I haven't talked to Kenny about that yet."

I'd be completely fine with Thome back on a 1-year deal to DH next year.

And I would bet it wouldn't cost too much to get him back.

As much as I complain about him I'd love to have him back.

Altogehter now, chant and clap "bring him back ... bring him back ... bring him back"

For $2-2.5M I say sign him.

Also an important fact IMO. Apparently on this board strikeout kings are heroes. Yea Jim Thome is great. I love how a left handed pitcher will get him out almost every at bat too. That makes him extra valuable in pressure-packed late inning situations when a lefty specialist is brought in. An automatic out is always acceptable because he's a nice guy. Let's have him play with us til he's 45, where the defensive shift will actually be just a line of guys down the right field line. Sign me up for another decade of pull-happy, captain strikeout, can't go from 1st to 3rd unless it's a triple Thome.

You probably love not using facts when spewing garbage in your posts. Considering his .764 career OPS against LHP, his .767 OPS against LHP this year and his .858 OPS against LHP in 2008, its amazing a LHP will get him out almost every AB. Automatic out? If he wants to DH for cheap next year, I don't see why KW wouldn't want him around. 314 AB and 74 RBI.
