This is a heck of a game for the sport, that, of course, is being televised on the wrong channel. I know it's a prelim game, but it's also a game that could have hooked quite a few people.

This is insane

Sweetest empty netter ever?

One of the better games I've seen. Enjoy playing Latvia or Belarus or whatever tomorrow, Canada. LOL at not being able to get a BYE.

EDIT: Germany.

What an amazing game, I've never seen anything like that before. Ryan Miller was a madman out there.

probably the best hockey game i've seen. that empty netter was simply incredible.

all i can say is WOW great game GO USA

Canada gets Russia if (when) they beat Germany. Talk about another great game. Go Sweden so we get the one seed.

Time for a celebratory Labatt Blue. It's like I'm dominating Canada all by myself.

Ryan Miller is a god. Also, unless I screwed up, it looks like Russia is locked into the 3 seed. So we will almost certainly see Russia play Canada. Just in the quarterfinals not the gold medal game like everyone was predicting. The result tonight of the Finland/Sweden game is huge for the US btw. If Sweden wins or the game goes to OT then the US is the #1 seed and will avoid Russia, Canada and either Finland or Sweden until the Gold Medal game if they make it that far. They would get what should be an easy game in the quarterfinals against Switzerland or Belarus and then would play either Sweden/Finland or the Czech Republic.

Yeah we're definitely rooting for Sweden tonight... It's going to be a late one.

Actually I may have screwed up my previous post. It looks like if Sweden beats Finland in OT then Russia will actually be the 4th seed as Sweden would have more points than Russia and Finland would have a better goal differential. So lets just hope Sweden wins in regulation.

USA USA USA USA

Watched the game at my parents and it was cool to see my dad go crazy. He and my mom was at the Miracle on Ice game in 1980 so he kept talking about that game tonight. He really went crazy on the empty netter.

Thanks for the gifts tonight Marty, you we're absolutely brutal.

I wonder if Luongo is going to get the nod now. Canadian fans don't take well to losing.

Furthermore, the referee's should be embarrassed by their bias tonight. The back-to-back calls against johnson and kane (Nash flopped like a woman) were ridiculously ticky-tacky and the Canadian team still didn't win.

Unless I misunderstood this, Russia is locked into a top 3 seed for winning their group.

The following criteria will be used in the order presented to determine this ranking following completion of the preliminary round (1D - 12D):

1. Higher position in the group*

2. Higher number of points

3. Better goal difference

4. Higher number of goals scored for

5. Better 2009 IIHF World Ranking

The asterisk for position in group is for the tiebreakers within that.

USA USA USA!!! Best game of hockey I've ever watched. That was easily the greatest empty netter i've ever seen

You are right. Russia is locked into the 3 spot so the US wants either a Sweden win with less than a 5 goal differential, or the game to go into OT to get the #1 seed.

Ryan Miller is a friggin stud. Has been all year. And I love seeing Kesler hustle and stick it to Vancouver/Canada with the last goal. When USA celebrates, they get me giddy. Rafalski... something has gotten into him. Unreal game to watch. USA! f*** Canada!

that was probably the best hockey game I have ever watched! Ryan Miller u beast! THANK YOU

Hopefully Sweden stops scoring now. The current score would be a perfect result for the US.
