what an awful, awful rule. Bears fan or not, that is a TD. Possession, 2 feet down AND his body hitting the ground BEFORE the ball hits the ground is NOT a TD? WTF?!

lol are the Bears the NFL's version of the Minnesota Twins? I guess I don't know the rule too well, but it sure looked like a TD to me.

The Bears didn't win that game. Arguably the dumbest rule in professional sports history won them the game. That rule is unfathomably stupid. There is not a legitimate reason for that rule to exist.

lol@ the Lions. Even when they really win the refs take it away.

I bet Joe West wishes they had rules like that in baseball, then he could switch outcomes all the time.

The Twins won a game on such a rule and they also won one on a pop up that hit a speaker.

There have been cheaper wins out there, which is good to know.

I might be wrong, but I think the rule is actually meant to protect the offensive player to not get a fumble call when they catch it and try to reach for an extra yard.

Still, I agree with everyone that it's one of the dumbest rules in sports.

poor Lions, I feel bad for them.

Lions fans must be mad. All 500 of them.

I kind of feel bad for Calvin Johnson. He had a terrible game, but that call was partially his fault. If he just holds on to the ball, the Lions would have won the game by now.

I think he was down and touched out of bounds by the time he dropped the ball. My god.

And he was clearly just standing up when he put the ball on the ground. I can't even feel good about this win since the Bears didn't actually win the game.

Being a Chiefs fan I don't feel bad for the rest of the AFC West. But since I don't have any reason to dislike the Lions I wish them the best.

it'll be good to have it come the end of the year though if the Bears are fighting for a playoff spot.

Thank you, Matt Forte.

Bears win!!!! LOL. According to the NFL rules, that was not a touchdown. Is the rule stupid?? f*** yeah, but I'll take it. 1-0 Bears.

My early analysis of the Bears is that they might win a couple games against good teams with the talent they have, but will also blow some games they should win. I'm thinking 7-9 again.

Man did the Bears luck out. Offense killed a couple drives with fumbles and drops in the first half and stalled in the second half but they somehow managed to do enough to win. The decision to go for it was one of lovies dumbest decisions ever. Like calling the timeout at the end of the seattle game bad (playoffs notwithstanding)

Oh and its nice to see Forte being used properly.

Um, according to NFL.com they did, 19-14.

Sure and the record book also shows Galarraga didn't throw a perfect game when he clearly did.

I don't know how to process this (pun intended). Johnson scored, but he didn't. We won, but we lost. The offense played well, but bad.

The Eagles should go back to these old uniforms.

They are ok, seems to me the color should be a little darker.
