February 12, 201016 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 07:44 PM) Bye bye Frank. Thanks for everything. Dude seriously might be the most underrated player of all time. :notworthy Lucky for us he never played east of the Hudson, for the Cubs, or for a team in LA, where he'd have been (justifiably) hyped to no end.
February 12, 201016 yr Awwww mannnnn... This is the man who should have broken Aaron's record. NOT Baroid. See you in Cooperstown, Big Hurt.
February 12, 201016 yr This man is the reason I call the White Sox my favorite baseball team. In his prime, watching him was no different than watching MJ (for me anyway).
February 12, 201016 yr Thank you, Frank, for being the premier "stop and watch" player in all of baseball in the early 90's. Thank you, Frank, for the boost you provided to the Sox in the middle of 2005. Thank you, Frank, for being so vocal against PED's when no one else was. Enjoy your induction into the Hall Of Fame! Good Ol' #35
February 12, 201016 yr QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) Forever my favorite player. Congratulations on a fantastic career, Frank. Was waiting for you to chime in. Started crying yet?
February 12, 201016 yr QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) The Sox NEED to retire 35 at some point this season and a statue in a pose similar to this
February 12, 201016 yr QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) The Sox NEED to retire 35 at some point this season Opening Day would work for me.
February 12, 201016 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) Was waiting for you to chime in. Started crying yet? I've cried myself to sleep every night since he left the Sox, on December 7, 2005.
February 12, 201016 yr QUOTE (earthshiner @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 07:21 PM) and a statue in a pose similar to this That ALWAYS meant bad news for opposing pitchers!
February 12, 201016 yr Frank was the biggest reason I became a Sox fan as a young child, and I'm sure quite a few other posters here would express similar thoughts. The best player in Sox history, by a large margin. Get the hall of fame bust ready, get the statue ready, get the number retirement ceremony ready, etc etc. It's a sad day today, even though we've known he's really been retired for a long time now.
February 12, 201016 yr Here's one we all remember: Frank comes back to Chicago as a member of the A's and cracks two against the Sox. http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/media/pla...b_tp350&v=2
February 12, 201016 yr QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) The Sox NEED to retire 35 at some point this season Opening f***ing Day.
February 12, 201016 yr Statue. Frank standing there, bouncing bat on shoulder, staring at pitcher. Now.
February 12, 201016 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) Statue. Frank standing there, bouncing bat on shoulder, staring at pitcher. Now. I second this. I hope Big Hurt is around alot in the future years to come.
February 12, 201016 yr My first baseball memory was me being 2 years old, sitting near home plate at my first Sox game, and Frank launching one out of the park. For years, I swore it went out of the whole park. I think part of me always wished Frank would come back last year or this and suddenly become Big Hurt again. That would have been amazing. Three years to Cooperstown big guy, and the Sox better retire #35 and put a statue out there opening day. Edit: Frank was only an All-Star 5 times? That's a shame.
