If you're going to bunt why not steal 2nd and then bunt?!?!

/agree

Calm down and tell me why a bunt is so bad there.

We need one f***ing run.

Get serious people. It's a decent call.

Because we signed Pierre because he steals bases. Why not steal a base and not give up the bat for one of, if not the best hitter on your team? Just a terrible decision.

If it was a slow base runner, I got nothing against it. But it's Juan Pierre. He was brought here to steal bases and he's been on three times today, yet he hasn't even attempted a steal yet.

come on TCQ bring this game to an end

Walk me off Carlos!

would you rather have somebody up there that can't bunt worth a s*** and bunt into a dp or force? Not a bad call.

If Cleveland was smart, they'd walk Quentin here.

its too bad beckham gets punished for having best bat control on team

What is the point of having a leadoff hitter who can steal a base if you always just bunt?

To face the hottest hitter on the team?

Actually, now that I think about it, you're right, that sets up the GIDPK.

I think almost every manager in baseball would bunt there. It's the bottom of the ninth. We need one run.

It may not work but we're one f***ing single from a victory right now.

And a good manager would walk Quentin here, effectively taking the bat out of the hands of our 2 best hitters. Milwaukee played this same way a few seasons ago, and Fielder/Braun suffered because of it.

What are wet phoi ghps?

We are still one single from a victory with 2 outs to go.

It's a good call especially at home against CLEVELAND. I can agree a stolen base mighta also been in order.

ugh i'll say it again

Pierre can STEAL second. That's why we BROUGHT him here.

then if you desperately want to give up an out, bunt him to 3rd base where even a sac fly will score him!

so fundamentally obvious.

I'd rather have Beckham hit a double.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 08:20 PM)
It's not going to work with this team. You're taking the bat out of the hands of our best overall hitter. I'm fine bunting if Pierre's on 2nd with no outs.

I'm not saying I'd have done this with Beckham up, but I understand the logic in it and I don't think its a terrible move. Now we have 2 guys up (2 of our 3 best bats) and all it takes is a basehit by one of them and we win.

who hits into as many dp's as anyone in the game

We should just switch Beckham and Pierre.

You're saying Konerko's not one of our 2 best hitters right now?

Or you take the bat out of one of their hands and set up the DP.

Yep, that's why you don't bunt.

Huh, thank god we bunted.

Paulie, make them pay.
