May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 24, 2010 -> 12:39 AM) Maybe Rios as well as picking up half his remaining contract would be a good start. Or Beckham +. Heads I hope you were joking or drunk. I highly doubt Toronto would take Rios back under any circumstances.
May 24, 201015 yr Ehh. A lot of people believe Wallace to be very much overrated. I see a lot of Adam LaRoche type comparisons. He was a much better prospect when he was a 3B where his bat would play well above average. Now at 1B, not so much. He passed the eye test for me a couple weeks ago. I saw him in the flesh go 4-5 and whack a homer to right and smash two off the wall in left. What a concept. Hit it where it is pitched.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 24, 2010 -> 02:02 AM) I was messin' with ya. That's just not a word you hear or see ever in life. Even Thunderbolt wouldn't bust that word out. It's true, i can vouch for that.
May 24, 201015 yr You can ameliorate/remedy/improve a bad situation, but you really wouldn't ameliorate a payroll....it's not quite the proper usage, there are a lot better choices. At best, a stretch.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 24, 2010 -> 12:36 AM) We're not trading any member of our starting rotation not named Freddy Garcia. If we continue to suck badly, I bet we trade a big name. It is just a feeling.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 23, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) We're not trading any member of our starting rotation not named Freddy Garcia. Thank you for the voice of reason. Gavin has had a few rough starts but is hands down the most talented pitcher we have not named Peavy. He has had two very good seasons back to back and would certainly be more than a salary dump if we moved him. Young, healthy and talented MLB starters don't grow on trees.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) If we continue to suck badly, I bet we trade a big name. It is just a feeling. Mark Buehrle
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (fathom @ May 24, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) Mark Buehrle I thought I remember reading that Buehrles contract jumps to an insane amount if he gets traded?(a poison pill, basically)
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 24, 2010 -> 08:50 AM) I thought I remember reading that Buehrles contract jumps to an insane amount if he gets traded?(a poison pill, basically) Something like $1 million dollars.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 24, 2010 -> 08:50 AM) I thought I remember reading that Buehrles contract jumps to an insane amount if he gets traded?(a poison pill, basically) I think its $1M increase and team must pick up the 1 year option.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 24, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) I think its $1M increase and team must pick up the 1 year option. It really is a million? I was just joking.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 24, 2010 -> 10:00 AM) It really is a million? I was just joking. I don't know but I think it does make the option year in 2012 kick in automatically for something like $17M, so that is kind of a deterrent I'd say.
May 24, 201015 yr He has a player option worth 19 million if he gets traded. So, is Mark Buehrle worth 19 million to another team? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Buehrle
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 24, 2010 -> 09:06 AM) He has a player option worth 19 million if he gets traded. So, is Mark Buehrle worth 19 million to another team? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Buehrle Yeah, there's a reason why that line has no citation: because it's wrong. If he's traded he gets an extra $1M per season on any remaining years as well as a $15M player option for 2012. There's a thread pinned in this very forum containing information such as this and guarateed to be 100% more accurate than f***ing Wikipedia.

May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 24, 2010 -> 12:01 AM) Do you agree with me or do you find my suggestion to be just as unlikely?
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (bighurt4life @ May 24, 2010 -> 08:45 AM) Thank you for the voice of reason. I bet most would say that D1 has more talent.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 24, 2010 -> 11:09 AM) Wow... really? I bet most would say that D1 has more talent. I think Floyd has better stuff, Danks just has more drive.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 24, 2010 -> 09:44 AM) Do you agree with me or do you find my suggestion to be just as unlikely? I thought you were being sarcastic. You mean that was a legitimate proposal by you?
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 24, 2010 -> 09:42 AM) I luv when you get angry Eh, if something as innocuous as that really got me pissed off that'd be pretty sad. I figure you of all people should be able to pick up on my tone. Asshole.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 24, 2010 -> 10:28 AM) I thought you were being sarcastic. You mean that was a legitimate proposal by you? Dead serious.
May 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) If we continue to suck badly, I bet we trade a big name. It is just a feeling. Rios count?

May 24, 201015 yr I know people are down playing the names being kicked around for our relievers, but it isn't like relievers haven't brought quality prospects before. See also Brandon Allen for Tony Pena, or Jeff Bagwell for Larry Anderson, or Ricardo Rincon for Brian Giles, or Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe for Heathcliff Slocumb. It happens.
