July 7, 201015 yr Hawk just said the official report is a Latissimus Dorsi strain... http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cyberthe...simus_dorsi.php
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) hooray I was right and everyone here jumped off a cliff as usual. Strained Brad Penny just did that. He's due back after the AS Break.
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) hooray I was right and everyone here jumped off a cliff as usual. Strained Aw, have a cookie. And phew...but I'll be more at ease after he gets a break with the ASG and throws a nice effort in his next game.
July 7, 201015 yr sure wouldnt cost much to give BIG Z a new start. and add another starter for back up.
July 7, 201015 yr I am glad to see the usual cliff jumping crowd was wrong. The important question now is how long does it take Peavy to get back?
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) I am glad to see the usual cliff jumping crowd was wrong. The important question now is how long does it take Peavy to get back? Probably a couple weeks. Actual starts? I would guess 2 or 3.
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) I am glad to see the usual cliff jumping crowd was wrong. The important question now is how long does it take Peavy to get back? Hopefully soon. I'd imagine we won't know for a couple of days though.
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) I think Peavy is out until after the Minnesota series, maybe misses 1-2 starts. It would be a good idea to give him a couple of starts off to rest.
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (RudyLawRules @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Hawk just said the official report is a Latissimus Dorsi strain... http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cyberthe...simus_dorsi.php God does answer prayers. I think got a lot of prayers with the hashtag #whitesox attached.
July 7, 201015 yr Not saying that I did freak out, because I didn't but I can understand why people would. It looked really bad and this is a pitcher with poor mechanics (inverted W) and 2 elbow strains in his history as well as fluid in his shoulder which has caused him to skip side sessions. Hard not to think the worst.
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) Not saying that I did freak out, because I didn't but I can understand why people would. It looked really bad and this is a pitcher with poor mechanics (inverted W) and 2 elbow strains in his history as well as fluid in his shoulder which has caused him to skip side sessions. Hard not to think the worst. Don't you mean a regular M?
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:22 AM) Not saying that I did freak out, because I didn't but I can understand why people would. It looked really bad and this is a pitcher with poor mechanics (inverted W) and 2 elbow strains in his history as well as fluid in his shoulder which has caused him to skip side sessions. Hard not to think the worst. As I said to shack, I don't care it was a Sox pitcher on the mound, I would have thought that any particular pitcher had just blown their elbow out with the way he reacted.
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) I think Peavy is out until after the Minnesota series, maybe misses 1-2 starts. Maybe two. They can also use the AS Break to reset the rotation order like before. Hudson should hold his own in the meantime.
July 7, 201015 yr I'm excited to see Hudson back in the game if Peavy gets a DL stint, though it does suck. P.S. I hope we get Torres up to as far as our LR problem. I like what Pena has done this season for the most part, but he is not a LR and he has been left in to get killed this year inflating his ERA.
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) Brad Penny missed like 6 weeks for the Cards He is still out as well.
July 7, 201015 yr Brad Penny went on the DL with a strained Lat 5/22. He was supposed to throw a simulated game today, but had soreness in his bicep. Using that as a very rough guideline Peavy ready again by start of September.
July 7, 201015 yr Gonzales tweets Bill Swift of San Fran, missed a month in 1994 with similar injury.
July 7, 201015 yr after the past 6 years I have to say I'm not used to a pitcher that has injuries throughout the season
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:31 PM) Gonzales tweets Bill Swift of San Fran, missed a month in 1994 with similar injury. And that was 16 years ago. No way Peavy is out until September.
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) Brad Penny went on the DL with a strained Lat 5/22. He was supposed to throw a simulated game today, but had soreness in his bicep. Using that as a very rough guideline Peavy ready again by start of September. Peavy is a fitness machine. Penny is not even close to being in the kind of shape Jake is in. Nor is he anywhere near the competitor Peavy is.
July 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:42 PM) Peavy is a fitness machine. Penny is not even close to being in the kind of shape Jake is in. Nor is he anywhere near the competitor Peavy is. I think this could help Peavy get healthy for the stretch run, let's just hope Hudson can hold strong.
July 7, 201015 yr With regards to Peavy, I don't want him to return until he's 100%. Last thing we need is him trying to protect his back/side and shoulder, and then change his mechanics more.
July 7, 201015 yr Glad to not only hear that it's not serious, but that Peavy's also wise enough to take himself out, rather than try to pitch through it.
