Trade Candidates for Kenny this offseason

True, but we seem to be OK against the Bosox and Yankees, except for that road trip two seasons ago in September. We get up for them.

We need some former Twins to at least wake up our dugout or shake our dugout out of fear when we play Minnesota. Can't you already picture all those doubles and gappers the Twins will rake against us again next year already?

They have AJ. Kenny likes to collect guys from the Royals. They don't have to worry about the Twins if they could beat KC and Clev on a consistent basis.

No way. Buehrle is a pricey SOB next year. It would take D1 to land a young impact player like Rasmus.

Good move? It'd be a f***ing great move. Problem is why on earth would the Cards trade a cheap, under control, budding all-star for a #4 starter who'll be 32 by the time next season starts making 12 million and a solid but hardly elite prospect? It would no doubt take danks. And I wouldn't have a problem with that if our Gm hadn't sucked the life out of our farm with s*** to show for it the last 3 years.

The Cardinals clearly look like they're moving Rasmus this year because he doesn't fit with their team and manager. Mark Buehrle is not a #4 starter in the AL, and he's especially not one in the NL. You have a really odd idea of all these teams having #4 starters with ERA's around 4 and 200+ innings in the AL.

The reason the Cardinals wouldn't do it is that they probably can't take on his salary and also have Wainright's money go up and pay Holliday and find another $10 million+ per year for Albert starting in 2012.

3/4 starter. U can't possibly think he's a 2 at this point. And he's not worth no 12 million.

$14 million. He ain't worth no 14 million.

If Buehrle is traded, his contract becomes 19 million per year, everyone overlooks this.

But, if he were in the NL, he'd be the best #2 pitcher in baseball.

Im 90% sure that there is only a $1 million increase per year if he is traded.

Edit: Yup, goes to 16 million from 15 million.

Holy s***. He makes more than I thought. Mark is one overpaid mofo.

He should trade for some Yankees.. they know how to build a great team

Yes but Jackson isn't worth it either, so what's your point? Our rotation coming through big time as well as the bullpen is about the only way we'll win anything of significance next season. We don't have the bats to do much of significance.

That's true right now, and it may hold true when the season opens in 2011. Unless some wheeling and dealing takes place and/or the payroll is increased, the Sox will be hard-pressed to add a significant bat. The pitching will be very important for sure.

In the NL? Mark is a #2 starter easily. Probably 1/2 the teams in the NL he'd be their obvious best starter.

Not a trade question, but when is the date that teams can sign FA? Is it like 15 days after the conclusion of the World Series? Just wondering when I should start checking rumors 10-12 times a day.

The Sox should see what the Yanks would want for Curtis Granderson. He disappointed them this year, though he did well in the playoffs. And the Yanks have no problem cutting bait on players who don't have immediate success. His LH power, with good defense, would be a nice fit.

He gets really expensive here pretty quickly

Granderson gets $1 million this year, $3.5 million in 2009, $5.5 million in 2010, $8.25 million in 2011 and $10 million in 2012. The Tigers have a $13 million option for 2013 with a $2 million buyout.

Right. He'd be like the lefty version of Rios, though, solid all around. I don't like the 2013 option though.

Grady Sizemore would also be a Lefty bat that could be on the block. Whether they'd trade him to the sox, who knows. They'll more likely compete with the Royals for last than fight for 1st in 2011 so it's not like they're competing with the Sox. They need to shed salary and get more talent. With his knee injury, though, the Indians would be selling very low. His contract is reasonable if healthy [2011:$7.5M, 12:$8.5M club option ($0.5M buyout)]. Hell, a swap of Quentin for Sizemore could even be in the Indians interest, as they'd control Carlos through 2012. They could likely get more power production, at a cheaper salary, with Carlos in LF for them.

I would do that deal in a second.

No sane GM would give up anything of value for CQ right now.

Everyone does realize that Sizemore has like 30 homer potential, plays CF, and steals bases, even if he is oft-injured, right? And Quentin has like 40 homer potential, plays a terrible RF, and doesn't do much else, and he too is oft-injured, right?

The Indians would laugh at the thought of Sizemore for Quentin.

Unfortunately 80% of thie board doesn't realize that, so we still get the CQ for Choo or CQ for Rasmus trades popping up all the time. It ain't gonna happen friends.
