good job by Bruney and great job by Peavy. Nice win today, he might need a DL trip, but at least it's not Danks arm or shoulder.

Peavy owns the Nats. He went complete game shutout on them last year.

Some redemption for bruney for last night too

I was at that one. Jake is the man! :gosox3: :headbang

I said this in the gamethread, but since Peavy went 4 today, and held the velocity through all four innings, might his velocity be returning to him? I saw 92-94 with a couple 95 mph pitches today. If he can have the stuff he had today in his next start and for most of the season(save the few starts where any pitcher just doesn't have it), it would be a huge boost to the Sox to finally have that ace.

nice job peavy, bruney and santos

why squeeze in the 8th but not in the 10th last night same guy same situation tougher pitcher today?

good bounce back win

That was big of Bruney/Peavy to step up like that in a s***ty situation.

Nice being on the right side of a shutout! :gosox1:

The Sox sure don't have problems bouncing back from troubling losses.

Just like that, nice 3-0 win.

Pitching great.

Glad to see Castro very excited after his big hit.

Yup, I'll eat some crow on that one. Last night I wanted him out-righted to Charlotte.

:notworthy

Hope Philip feels good for tomorrow.

Since returning from his surgery - hasn't he been regularly between 90 and 93?

I don't remember seeing or hearing anything about his velocity being vacant.

What happened to Danks?

Great win! They really needed it after failing to get guys in so much in the loss last night.

Going for 18 straight tomorrow!

some adversity may be just what the doctor ordered

I was in attendance, and even though I'm hard on the guy, what a job by Peavy. Wow.

BTW, it's not that fans boo Dunn anymore, it's that after the boo'ing, the fans talk to each other and just blast him. He needs more off days, especially vs LHP's.

His velocity is definitely up from his last outing.

June 22:

90.47 avg - 92.7 max 4 seamer

91.47 avg - 93.9 max 2 seamer

today:

92.3 avg - 95 max 4 seamer

93.1 avg - 95.1 max 2 seamer

His max cutter was up 2 MPH today.

His average fastball velocity for the season was 90.8 coming into today.

Didn't he get a standing O after coming out for a pinch runner?

More bad news for the Twins: Young getting carted off the field.

I cheered because I figured it was a bronx cheer for finally getting on base.
