He's blasting Kenny on Twitter? Is he that loyal to Ozzie that he would blame Kenny for not benching a player?

@scottmerkin So ur GM lied when he said best players play, no matter the contract? Can't have it both ways Merk.

This guy is insane.

So he's basically claiming Ozzie is being forced to play Dunn and Rios?

Cowley is right about Williams. 100% right. You might not like the messenger, but that doesn't matter.

Marty, you still hearing Ozzie to Florida? Everyone in media seems to think Ozzie won't return, including Buster O. last nght.

Agreed, Kenny is absolutely at fault for not benching Dunn.

Please, I'm not fan of either Kenny or Ozzie but to blame Kenny for Ozzie's mistakes is f***in insane and that "messenger" is just an ignorant f***in person.

Last I heard from my guy was what I posted here.

I heard Bernstein on the SCORE Friday say that the Sox will try to get compensation from the Marlins. I got the impression from my guy that changes would be announced shortly after they were mathimatically eliminated in order to appease the fans.

It'd be difficult to get "Compensation" if you don't wait until after the world series ends.

I don't know why we need compensation.

He only has one year left on his deal and the Sox don't want him anyway. So why not just let him go to Florida so the Sox can hopefully name Sandberg ASAP. It better not be Cora or Buddy Bell or LaRussa.

LaRussa is a crabby old man. Let Tony retire and write books about how baseball should be played LaRussa style.

I also want Sandberg, or possibly Dave Martinez.

IF we can get some comp. for Oz, why not try? They may call our bluff, but nothing to lose really.

Sandberg has no business even being interviewed for a managerial position.

Huh? Porque no?

Been a success everywhere he's been in the minor leagues.

Means nothing. Bench or even third base coach is by far better preperation to manage in the majors than managing in the minors is.

Tony La Russa barely had a cup of coffee on a major league coaching staff and was promoted to coach the Sox from AAA after working up through the minors. Whitey Herzog was in player development, primarily.

Point is, many different paths to managerial success. New blood has to come from somewhere.

I'm guessing that the idea of anything Cub in a Sox uni is your real objection.

Its managing baseball, not splitting an atom. For the love of God, Sandberg knows his way around a major league clubhouse. I don't know how getting signs from a dugout to give to a hitter or runner is going to make him more prepared. Of course, that did work for Terry Bevington and Mike Quade. Oh wait.......

I'm not saying I would hire the guy, but he did what a lot of guys wouldn't, he went back to riding buses. He may not get a job, but he's earned interviews.

30 years ago things were different. I'd prefer Martinez to be the next Sox manager all things being equal. I believe he was a former Cub, so your guess is wrong.

The only reason a team would interview him for manager would be because of his name. He needs to be a coach first.

I think the major plus of that experience is to learn to manage the egos involved and to deal with the media, not because the game is any different at the major league level than in the minor leagues.
