September 28, 201114 yr I was there. I have a couple of things to say. 1.) Did the umpire go piss or something? Was that noticeable on TV? 2.) I had to fight tearing up when they took Buehrle out. It was awesome. 3.) That ovation made me seriously reconsider my stance that Buehrle is definitely coming back. That felt like a real goodbye.
September 28, 201114 yr LOVE Mark Buehrle. Whether he's back on the Sox next season or moves on, I wish that guy nothing but the absolute best.

September 28, 201114 yr Congrats to my all-time favorite White Sox player, Mark Buehrle. I was stuck watching the gameday feed all night and still haven't seen his ovation. It's a shame if he and the Sox can't agree on a reasonable contract. All the best to him wherever he goes.
September 28, 201114 yr it was a beautiful send off. emotional indeed. thanks for everything #56, i sincerely hope this isn't a goodbye.

I was there as well. Morel gets the moron of the night award. AJ is trying to get the ball after the last out of that inning and Morel then throws it into the stands.
September 28, 201114 yr It seems appropriate that he didn't receive much run support and the support that he got came from the catchers, who are presumably the most grateful for his quick work.

I figured that they would bring Buehrle out for the 8th and take him out before he faced Bautista, so I can't blame Morel for that.
September 28, 201114 yr QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 04:53 AM) Favorite White Sox player of all time. All pitchers should copy his style. Get the ball and deliver it with confidence. Hope we sign him to a 2-3 year deal. Just do it Jerry. I'd think if St. Looie lets Pujols walk, it's a natural they'll outbid the Sox for Mark. Why wouldn't they? September 28, 201114 yr Definitely my favorite pitcher of all time. I'd like him back, but business is business.
September 28, 201114 yr Author CSNChi_Beatnik Brett Ballantini Coop on the moment on the mound with him and Mark: "I relished the opportunity to yank a multimillionaire.” CSNChi_Beatnik Brett Ballantini Coop and Buehrle did postgame side-by-side; real easy to see the affection between the two.
September 28, 201114 yr QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:34 AM) They have a set rotation!? It's easy for people who don't pay attention to facts to ignore that, even though it's been said about 150 times in the last month. Edited September 28, 201114 yr by Milkman delivers

September 29, 201114 yr I don't have anything to back this up, but I can see Kansas City as a dark horse in Buehrles' situation. K.C. is as close to his home as Chicago is, they have more of a "pitchers park" than the Sox do, and with K.C.'s up and coming offense he could pile up some wins with that kind of support. Kansas City could feel that an upgrade to their pitching staff could make them serious contenders next season, and I think that they could be right. I'm sure that Buehrle has noticed this too and if the Sox don't make him a respectable offer I think that K.C. would have a better chance than most other clubs at his services.
