"New Girl" was a tad odd last night but still dig it for a half hour comedy. Schmidt is hilarious.

I figured that's what it was going for. Or, in the very least, it was strongly implied the mystery surrounding the 63s has something to do with an earthquake.

I'm liking The River so far.

It's just got the same style.

 

The first hour (episode) was good, the second wasn't as good. It's a procedural set in a mystery/adventure setting, or so it seems. Are they really going to have one magic/ghost storyline every episode? If so that's kind of lame. I thought it was going to just be a long story. Overall I'd give it a B-.

 

Alcatraz from this week wasn't really much different. I guess it gave a little more back story, but typical Abrams it just created more questions than answers. Both of these shows i'll continue to watch, but only because there's nothing else on. I don't think either are all that good.

There is ONE show and its Glee, which is terrible. Just the worst. I hate it with a passion. It in no way represents the reality of "theatre people". Smash does - which is cool to watch. I will admit that those not in the theatre industry may not give a s*** one way or the other.

 

One thing we can agree is fabulous...Katherine McPhee has an outstanding booty. And eyes you can go swimming in.

I thought River was decent enough.

 

In terms of the story, I think that ultimately there is going to be a connection between episode 1 and 2.

 

Trying to put some abstract ideas together, my guess is that there is something related to the British robber barons, the Mountains and what ever the "Source" is.

 

The ghosts etc are likely manifestations/curses resulting from whatever the British were doing in the 19th century

I turned the River off 20 minutes into the second hour. The whiny wife and gullible characters just didn't do it for me. Too many clashes and extremes (I HAVE TO FILM THIS or WE CAN'T LEAVE). It also doesn't need to be found footage. It just adds a layer of implausibility while making it hard to watch. They pretty much wrote it like a regular show with flashbacks and everything.

The Walking Dead starts this Sunday. That really snuck up on me. It has a lot of room for improvement.

And right after THE WALKING DEAD is the premiere of COMIC BOOK MEN, Kevin Smith's new reality show. If it's half as good as the podcast upon which it's based (TELL 'EM, STEVE-DAVE!), it will be awesome.
