June 5, 201213 yr Author QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 07:23 PM) Wouldn't be upset by the pick. Great upside. I wouldn't be upset either. Some will be though. He's pretty raw. Swing and miss to his game, not the best approach. But man, if he puts it together...
June 5, 201213 yr Mark Gonzales @MDGonzales If Mets select Cecchini, White Sox have choice of college pitchers Wacha or Stroman or prep OF Hawkins. They have plenty of info on Smoral
June 5, 201213 yr Only thing I don't like is the Sox historical inability to get these guys to develop. Maybe that is changing though with Mitchell starting to come around and I guess we still have more to see in what happens with Walker and Thompson. Would be unfair to write them off (or the organization) at this point based upon this and really these are the 3 guys most of us think about when it comes to raw upside guys the Sox picked (albeit only one was a high schooler).

June 5, 201213 yr Author Jim Callis @jimcallisBA #WhiteSox will get some value hear. I think it's Hawkins, Stroman or Wacha. Mock guessed Wacha, I'll guess Hawkins. #mlbdraft Expand Reply Retweet Favorite

June 5, 201213 yr Author First prep 1st rounder since Honel was taken in 2001. Hell has frozen over. Kudos to the White Sox for taking who they think is the BPA, no matter the level. Edited June 5, 201213 yr by DirtySox
June 5, 201213 yr Ben Badler @BenBadler RT @BAHighSchool Just got word from White Sox source that they'll take Courtney Hawkins! #mlbdraft
June 5, 201213 yr If you keep drafting the same player, don't be shocked if you keep getting players with the same problem
June 5, 201213 yr Props to our inside guys docsox and bucket of suck as well. Can't believe we have the balls to draft a H.S. Edited June 5, 201213 yr by SoxAce
June 5, 201213 yr I'll love to hear John Hart's take on Hawkins. I trust what he says about young hitters. Pitchers, not so much.
June 5, 201213 yr Scott Merkin @scottmerkin If it's Hawkins, first high school OF taken in first round by White Sox since Tom Hartley in 1984
June 5, 201213 yr Don't mind the pick, especially like their open to drafting anyone. Not just college guys
June 5, 201213 yr QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 07:29 PM) If you keep drafting the same player, don't be shocked if you keep getting players with the same problem Yeah, but it also increases the chances that one of them will pan out Edited June 5, 201213 yr by iamshack
June 5, 201213 yr Author Mark Gonzales @MDGonzales If it's Hawkins, solid pick. Sox stressed upside, and Laumann said three weeks ago this was as good of a year to take a prep player at 13. Expand Reply Retweet Favorite
