Your Favorite White Sox

Featured Replies

Since there seems to be so much hate in that Alex Rios thread, I'm curious as to who peoples favorite White Sox players are. We love to hate certain players for odd reasons, so who are some random White Sox players you love?

For me, Ray Durham is possibly my favorite Sox player of all time. Loved everything about him and got to meet him when I was a kid.

Ray Durham

Mark Buehrle

Shingo Takatsu

Mike Sirotka

Same list, different order

Buehrle, Pudge, Harold, Ozzie, Robin, "Hit Men"

Frank, Paulie, Mark.

Magglio was on there until around 2006.

It's weird but Frank never was a favorite. I couldn't help but stop and watch him play, but never a favorite.

my top 10 fav sox players

Me too. I respected the hell out of what he did, but never was my favorite.

Frank

Alexei

Frank Thomas

Harold Baines

Mark Buehrle

Jack McDowell

Paul Konerko

Ron Karkovice

I have no idea why I liked Karkovice, but I did.

The good ones.

I've respected Konerko and Buehrle as players and people, but I root for laundry.

Guys I saw play:

Frank Thomas

Magglio Ordonez

Alexei Ramirez

Ray Durham

Mark Buehrle

Mike Sirotka

Paul Konerko

Guys I didn't see play:

Billy Pierce

Buck Weaver

I'm sure I'm forgetting people.

All-time list in no particular order:

Ron Kittle

Mark Buehrle

Robin Ventura

Harold Baines

Paul Konerko

Jermaine Dye

Oh man, I can't believe I left Kitty off. I was obsessed with him for about two years until he fell off of the map. I still have the autographed pic with me and him we took in 1983 in Arlington TX.

Mike Caruso, Brook Fordyce, Buerhle, Konerko

Caruso and Fordyce were when I was pretty young when I knew little about the game. Liked them because they gave me autographs.

In order...

Pudge

Dick Allen

Buehrle

Paulie

LaMarr Hoyt

Does this make sense, Thomas was a favorite to watch, but not a favorite player?

Buehrle reminded me that baseball is a game and should be fun

Pudge reminded me that the game should be played right. Hard and fair.

Baines just has so much integrity, too bad he was hurt

Ozzie was flat out fun to watch play. Always playing with his heart on his sleeve.

Robin always seemed to be trying harder than anyone else on the field, and needed to.

Frank always looked unhappy. Like his talent was a burden.

I sometimes include Bo Jackson but he never felt like a Sox player.

Frank

Mags

RV23

MB56

Robin Ventura, Craig Grebeck, Jose Valentin, Timo Perez

Mike Squires...

All time - Frank, i got into baseball in '93 and he was the biggest story in chicago baseball while I grew up.

Past 10 years - Buehrle, was always fun to watch and always had a smile on his face.

Current roster - Lilli, because why the hell not.

I figured Frank would kinda be a unanimous, no-brainier amongst all Sox fans. Hell, he's the reason I'm a White Sox fan.

Harold Baines

Carlton Fisk

Frank Thomas

Looking at the different list you can tell what generation they were born.

I'm with a lot of other poster, apparently. For some reason, Frank was never my favorite; I loved having him, just never fawned over him.

Durham

BlackJack

Paulie

Honorable mention: Griffey. He has always been my favorite player of all time. I don't care if he didn't do much for us (though he did his part in 163), I will die happy knowing that Ken Griffey Jr. graced our outfield for a minute.
