sHUT UP, JERK.

In all fairness, you thought I said Bill Russell was a Top 4 player of all time in the same post I said he doesn't make my top 5.

I have no recollection of this alleged event in question. Like greg said, we have hackers in the vicinity of this board. Even if you find something that implicates me, it was the hacker. Not me.

That wiley hacker is up to no good.

No one said you're getting kicked off...

And Ozzie's WP% is lower than both Lasorda and Weaver. Weaver won the AL pennant 4 times and had many other 90+ win seasons.

Ozzie does not figure to get another. No one figures to get another, that's an asinine assumption that just undervalues how hard it is to win a WS. That logic says Robin will win one, so the Sox should hold on to him until he does.

Good point. It is very hard to win one. He is young though. I'd figure odds are relatively good if he manages 20 to 25 more years he'd get another one.

I'm not ruling out that he could make adjustments in his personal life and have some longevity, but if he keeps going down this current path, there isn't a chance in hell he'll make it another 5 years, let alone 20-25.

greg's problem is that his love for Ozzie (aka 2005) has blinded him from facts and logic. He sees everybody taking shots (justified or not) at his hero and doesn't know what else to do other than to defend his guy. Personally, I've never seen somebody so obsessed with a manager. Players? Sure. But not a manager. And where greg kinda loses points is that the Sox have at worst a 50% chance of winning the division THIS YEAR. With Robin in charge and not Ozzie. I think there's part of him that doesn't want that to happen because he loves Ozzie so much and that would be the ultimate, "see, Ozzie was the problem," and he'd have to eat it and admit he was wrong. Nobody knows better than me what it's liked to get ganged up on. But I admit when I'm wrong. I don't think greg wants to do that.

I got nothing against Robin. I liked him as a player and he's doing a fine job. The team remains inconsistent but there still is the chance the team could become an elite one this season. Honestly I don't care what Miami does. I really would prefer not playing Miami in the WS though. Ozzie might find a way to beat us. I'd rather play Washington.

Ozzie's not finding ways to beat anybody at the moment. I don't think the cellar dwellar Marlins are much of a WS threat.

Greg, how do you explain the White Sox being in first and the Marlins being in last, considering your comments when Ozzie left? Even Oney doesn't say much anymore other than to once in a while mention people in Chicago shouldn't be so interested in Ozzie.

I'm glad the white sox are in first is all I can say about that.

I really don't care how the Marlins do because it doesn't really matter. Ozzie Guillen has more money than unfortunately I'll ever be able to count and he's a grown man who is fine.

I take no joy in them winning and no sadness in them losing.

I do, however, stand up for Ozzie Guillen when he is attacked or ripped or mocked concerning his time spent in Chicago because IMO he's one of my favorite Sox players ever and by far my favorite manager.

It looks as if Robin has what it takes and if KW does his job, I'm happy to believe Robin could also win some WS titles.

I see no point in people blasting ozzie for the time he spent in Chicago. It's not his fault Dunn and Rios sucked last year, it really isn't. He supported those guys and kept playing them and they failed him. Big deal. He's a grown man, as I said. He also gave Jenks every chance to succeed and Sergio and sometimes yes they failed him too. He was a great White Sox through and through and now I want us to win with Robin. I don't feel sorry for Ozzie and his millions of dollars. I do stand up for him when he is unfairly attacked for his years in chicago.

The only problem with your sentence Greg, is the addition of "unfairly attacked."

That's a VERY subjective standard that you will never agree with another poster here, whether the owner of the site or a newbie making his first post.

Whereas you think everything was on the players, and it MOSTLY is, last year, because they're all professionals....seeing the way the White Sox are playing with an arguably lesser team on paper this year, seeing the way the Marlins are playing with a better team talent-wise this year, there has to be SOMETHING to managing that is affecting these results and performances from the likes of Dunn and especially Rios.

Is it all just random or anomalies, or is there a pattern developing with his management results (and their diminishing returns over time)...

Showtime is doing a series on the Marlins. It debuts in a couple weeks. They just showed some previews. Its odd that the Guillen family is upset with the city of Chicago apparently paying too much attention to Ozzie. His quote on the show when asked what he would do if the Marlins won the World Series was "I'd take the trophy to Chicago, Michigan Avenue, bucknaked." That's class. It also shows Ozzie is always starved for attention, so I don't see how he can be upset many in Chicago are still so interested in him.

I found Ozzie likable in the preview episode they showed.

If you liked him here at all, you should probably like him there too...

For me, I've got nothing against the guy...I still think he is a genuinely good person and a blast to be around. But he lost his ability to manage our club effectively, so I am glad he moved on. No hard feelings.

He gets blasted way too much on the boards here at SoxTalk.

Wow, really? Pretty sure he's not even my favorite middle infielder.

That's "all" you can say? Or that's "all" you want to say considering that Ozzie had a better team on paper last year and quit on the team?

This is great: Giancarlo Stanton will be in the Home Run Derby.

Sale and Stanton are my two favorite MLB players right now, and one will be in the HR Derby and the other might be the ASG starter. Wow.

hilarious considering his puppet cowley was the one that kept writing about ozzie when we all wanted to move on from that. being in first, i dont think anyone cares about ozzie anymore(except enjoying watching the marlins lose lol)

Sale wont even be eligible to pitch in the ASG because he is starting that friday. Sorry to disappoint.

Didn't Ventura say yesterday that he'd plan their post-ASG rotation around who gets into the game?

That's post-ASG though.

IIRC, MLB has a rule that starters that pitched on the last day before the ASG can't pitch in the game.

Correct which is why he wont pitch, but he will be there. 1st in ERA, WHIP, 4th in wins. He's an All star.

Actually, I think he meant to say pre-ASG. Which is possible.

I think most posters would say I've said enough on Ozzie.

This "quit on the team" stuff is tiresome. Did Rios quit on the team? Did Dunn? It's easy to spout such a simplistic phrase. Do grown men and women really think Ozzie Guillen quit on the White Sox?
