Is there a team with bigger need at 3B than the Sox? Assuming Youk goes to Boston to play 1B for someone else than Valentine.

That might be a backup plan for Boston but I would guess they drive had for Napoli to man 1st and do a little catching/DHing.

As far as 3B goes, Wright would be an improvement over any 3B not named Cabrera (or Headley) so if he's available he will draw a lot of interest.

This pretty much should be the epithet on 2012

Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales

Sox's 8 hits with runners in scoring position Monday night were one less they hit during their last 10 losses.

The team collapsed under pressure and has been doing so for 6 years.

He'd fit right in on this squad since he played like absolute s*** in August and September. His ridiculous first 3 months covers up the fact that he was just awful in the 2nd half.

There was pressure in 07, 09, 10 and 11?

That 2007 team was tied for first on April 24 and then completely choked it away in the final 143 games.

Well most every Sox team has been tied for first on April 8 and choked it the remaining 162.

Last night truly proved supported the position of those who say the Sox choked or folded under pressure. The game didn't matter so they hit the s*** out of the ball with runners in scoring position. The troublesome thing is Robin had fixed this the first half. However now we're back to jinxed Sox baseball. He's coming back so I would expect the choking will continue again next year when it matters. Enjoy the next two games, however, they are meaningless so Sox prolly will excel.

They were definitely in the hunt in 11 and 10. Do you not remember Mannypalooza?

Look who we faced and put up those runs against, a guy with a 5 something ERA that we saw for the 2nd time and a couple garbage relievers.

Before that we faced TB who has a team ERA less than 3 in the 2nd half. Kluber who we saw for the first time( I believe), and Masterson, their best pitcher. Before that we faced E. Santana, D Haren, and Cy Weaver all of which have been good in the 2nd half. Then Chen and Guthrie who forever reason own us.

We faced some good pitching down the stretch and with a team dealing with injuries like the sox were it not a recipe for success.

And in completely unshocking, no one saw this coming news: Paul Konerko is having wrist surgery on Thursday

Kansas City shut the White Sox down almost every game they played and the Kansas City rotation sucked.

Well, at least he didn't b**** about it all year.

Unfortunately, he also hit like s***.

Yeah, but the Sox got shut down numerous times by a plethora of no names/lousy pitchers as well.

His injury turned him into a singles hitter when he got a hit at all. It will be nice having the real Paulie back next year. It was a sad sight watching him bat the second half.

It's almost impossible to be as bad as the Sox hitters were vs. KC's stable of lousy pitchers. Even Hochevar had success vs. the Sox. If we lose to them on Opening Day next year my head may explode.

Surely someone other than Hawk has to come up with some lame excuses for that.

The problem is nobody else had problems beating those Detroit pitchers before we let them off the hook. Detroit was losing to everybody not named Chicago for a long stretch and those KC pitchers are horrible. If you stretch it back a bit, we got shut down by a lot of other clown pitchers this season.

Max Scherzer - From July 18 - Sept 23, the Tigers went 11-4 in his starts

Doug Fister - From July 7 - Sept 27, the Tigers went 11-4 in his starts

Justin Verlander - From July 4 - Sept 29, the Tigers went 11-5 in his starts

This....

Why stretch it back any further? They were 16-12 in August...It all came down to September.

5 of those 12 loses coming against the Royals, who lets face it are this years Twins for whatever reason. 1 loss against the Blue Jays and the rest came against playoff teams

At least he wasn't our cleanup hitter or anything. f*** being a gamer if you're killing the team

BTW, Tigers have struggled against CY Chen. When Chen gave up two, he was shut out. The Tigers still found a way to win.

LOL Sportscenter. Top 10 plays, #3 was Dan Johnson's 3 home runs. Problem is they showed Konerko's HR as the 2nd one...then for the 3rd one..."Johnson, back on the left side for his 3rd one."
