So I'm playing in my first league ever this year, my department is putting together a team and we're signing up for Buffalo Grove's "C" league. I'm curious to find out how good I'll be considering I haven't played much softball at all and haven't played baseball much since my senior season in HS (so about 5 years).

That said, I'm stoked to be playing again plus I have a ton of upper management playing on the team to network with :)

The hardest thing is slowing the tempo down to slow pitch softball. It usually takes a year or two.

Agreed. My suggestion is to go to the cages a few times before the season starts to adjust. Just try and hit the ball right back at the machine, don't try and kill it.

Take as many swings as you can in practices and the like. I'd say to concentrate more on going the other way to start, just to get you into the "wait for it" mindset.

I may have to go to a batting cage, I was always an oppo line drive hitter in HS but I'll want to get the timing down again.

Theballparkmp.com is where I went on Saturday. It is in mount prospect at the intersection of Northwest Hwy and Central road.

Most people go in with the mentality that they are going to kill the ball, which is the wrong mentality coming from baseball. Especially with the bats these days, you don't need to swing 100%. Concentrate on slowing it down, and centering the bat on the ball. The bat will do the rest.

Got the call and putting the cleats back on after a year on DL. First game is the 25th.

Also playing in new 3 on 3 basketball league. Should be interesting how this works.

Had our first practice last night, I was glad to see my baseball swing converted well so far to softball.

Found an internship at home, so I'll be able to return for my 5th season of slow-pitch. Pretty pumped. We also got a full sponsorship for league fees, so that's fun.

Season opener pushed back a week because field wasn't drained yet.

I have a "one-game contract" with a friend's team scheduled for June, after I turn 50.

Instead of a number, the back of my jersey will read:

GET THE RUNNER READY!

I'm in 2 leagues this year, 4 games scheduled only 1 played so far. Doing 12 inch this year which I like soooooooo much better than 14 or 16. I'm 1-2 with a sac fly...#TWTW

First game this season, I went 2/3 with 2 doubles, 2 runs and 1 RBI

We won 18-2

We lost our first 2 games tonight. Yeeesh. 10-7 loss and then a 19-13 loss, which isn't bad consider we were down 16-4 at one point.

Oh and after hitting something like .721 last season, I went 0-7 in opening night. It was horrendous. 4 groundouts to 2B, 1 to the pitcher, and 2 flyouts to RCF. Reeeeeeal bad.

3 for 4 in my first game back in 2 years. Hardest ball I hit was the out. Jerk SS made diving catch

We lost our opener last night to the defending champs 16-15. Were cruising along until the 5th when we literally made 5 or 6 errors and let them score 9 runs. Can't give up free outs in softball

2-3 with 2RBIs. Hit the definition of a lazy fly ball. Tried tomahawk ing a high pitch to right center and got under it.

3/3, 2 runs 1 RBI, 1 double. We won 20-0.

Hot hitting continues for me. 4 games in a row going deep, last night double, triple, granny.

I know it will end but damn it feels good to square the ball up like that.

We got to play in the storm on Tuesday, that was a blast. My hitting is so much better this year than it has been in past years, hopefully that keeps up.

My Tuesday team is pretty awesome, my Sunday team is quite average. Both real fun though.
