July 1, 201213 yr Jon Heyman is reporting that Sale has made the All-Star squad.. I hope AJ, PK, Peavy and Rios makes the all star squad as well.
July 1, 201213 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 11:33 AM) And expected. Uh, yeah. I think Sale, Peavy, and Konerko are all locks. AJ should be, and Rios is borderline. Oh, and Dunn should be considered, warts and all. And yes, De Aza has had a great first half, but probably not. Heck, after all of the good stuff on this team, how are we not running away with this thing? Edited July 1, 201213 yr by flavum
July 1, 201213 yr What about De Aza? He's been playing his butt off for us since last year and deserves a little recognition

Heck, after all of the good stuff on this team, how are we not running away with this thing? I'd take Sale, Peavy, AJ, Rios, and De Aza. I think they are all deserving. PK, while the BA is very nice, has not been an all-star if you ask me.
July 1, 201213 yr I only wish he could pitch in it. Oh well it'll just be nice to see him announced and possibly react to home runs during the derby
July 1, 201213 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 11:59 AM) I'd take Sale, Peavy, AJ, Rios, and De Aza. I think they are all deserving. PK, while the BA is very nice, has not been an all-star if you ask me. PK is first in AVG, OBP, SLG%, and obviously OPS among AL first basemen. He is also third in home run, 7th in RBIs, and 5th in doubles. I think he deserves to be an all-star.

PK, while the BA is very nice, has not been an all-star if you ask me. OPS by first baseman in the AL: 1. Paul Konerko .969 2. Prince Fielder .856 3. Chris Davis .802 4. Albert Pujols .789 5. Mark Teixeira .772. Really, I don't even need to bother with other stats. My word he's blowing the rest of the league out of the water.

July 1, 201213 yr Good for him. Now let's make sure Sale starts on Sunday, so he doesn't waste any innings in a meaningless exhbition.

I certainly didn't realize the rest of the League's 1B's were playing so incredibly porous.
July 2, 201213 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 11:59 AM) PK, while the BA is very nice, has not been an all-star if you ask me. I just came across this but what the hell shack? You're better than that.
July 2, 201213 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) I just came across this but what the hell shack? You're better than that. Well I obviously didn't realize how horrible all the other 1B's had been from an OPS standpoint. Honestly, PK was incredible the first few months and then pretty pedestrian over the last month. He's on pace for 29/83 in terms of run production, which I was assuming wasn't going to get him in at what is traditionally such a offense heavy position. Alex Rios is on pace for 20/87, after all...and if I had to guess right now who will end up with more home runs at the end of the year, I would bet Alex...who also is on pace for 27 stolen bases...and he didn't sniff being selected. I admit I was wrong, however, and PK does deserve to go.
July 3, 201213 yr Sale possibly not starting on Sunday because of the All Star Game. @cst_soxvan #WhiteSox listed probables for Blue Jays this weekend have TBA for Sunday, not Sale. All-Star Game is Tuesday.
July 3, 201213 yr Well, my belief is screw the ASG and focus more on Sunday's game. Leesman against that righty dominant lineup is a recipe for disaster.

July 3, 201213 yr Chris Rongey @ChrisRongey Robin says there's a good chance Sale does not throw again until the All Star game. Sunday still TBA. #WhiteSox
July 3, 201213 yr + More innings for Sale second half, additional rest. One exhibition inning ain't gonna hurt the kid. He deserves it. - Somebody other than Sale starts on Sunday, hurting our odds of winning that game. Choices choices.
July 4, 201213 yr I'm sorry, but this is a pennant race, and skipping Sale's turn on Sunday because of the All Star game doesn't sit well with me at all. Especially since he could have easily come out and rested during last night's blowout. If I have to hear "Jose Paniagua" again, I'm going to kill somebody.
July 4, 201213 yr QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 08:00 AM) I'm sorry, but this is a pennant race, and skipping Sale's turn on Sunday because of the All Star game doesn't sit well with me at all. Especially since he could have easily come out and rested during last night's blowout. If I have to hear "Jose Paniagua" again, I'm going to kill somebody. I don't think they're skipping it solely because of the all star game...they're skipping it also because they're desperate to give him some extra rest. And if he sits on Sunday, it buys him Sunday and Monday off, a brief outing on Tuesday, and then Wednesday off, giving him maybe 1-2 innings over 8-9 days.
