July 21, 201213 yr Ken Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Source: #WhiteSox acquire Brett Myers from #Astros.
July 21, 201213 yr His WHIP is a touch over 1.3 which isn't good, but his ERA is respectable and his control is really good. It'd be a good move, IMO.
July 21, 201213 yr Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Source: #WhiteSox acquire Brett Myers from #Astros. Decent veteran arm. Will surely depend on who we gave up to evaluate this deal. Myers himself should be a useful arm out of the pen. Closing experience, starting experience and still only 31 years old.
July 21, 201213 yr lol. Hasn't KW said, I don't know, a billion times that character counts when evaluating/acquiring players? That just went out the window.
July 21, 201213 yr 19/21 saves this year, 0-4 3.52 era 1.34WHIP .285BAA 5.9K/9 1.8BB/9 3.33 K/BB 10.3H/9 in 35G
July 21, 201213 yr CSN is reporting that Sox are still not confirming deal. No rumors yet as to who is involved.
July 21, 201213 yr QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Is this guy gonna be our closer? Wow. Reed demoted? LOL Reed demoted. That's funny.
July 21, 201213 yr QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Is this guy gonna be our closer? Wow. Reed demoted? I am guessing Reed is still the closer, for now.
July 21, 201213 yr Make him a starter, make him a starter. LOL. Well, closing in the NL Central is a lot different than doing it against the Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, Angels and Rangers.
July 21, 201213 yr QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) Anyone want to guess what we gave up? I'll mostly randomly guess Saladino. I'll go Petricka and some other A-baller.
July 21, 201213 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) CSN is reporting that Sox are still not confirming deal. No rumors yet as to who is involved. Rosenthal is about as good as it gets in baseball. I couldn't care less if CSN says the Sox haven't confirmed it.
July 21, 201213 yr QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) I'll go Petricka and some other A-baller. That would have made sense, but I think the fact that they just promoted him makes me think he's not involved.
July 21, 201213 yr Author I'll guess Andy Wilkins and Matt Heidenreich. (no way I guess right) Edited July 21, 201213 yr by flavum

Yeah, I forgot that they just promoted him. I am just hoping it's someone I don't care about. For some reason, I love Saladino and would hate to see him traded. July 21, 201213 yr QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:15 PM) Rosenthal is about as good as it gets in baseball. I couldn't care less if CSN says the Sox haven't confirmed it. Doesn't mean the deal isn't done. All it means is that the White Sox have yet to make an official press release.
July 21, 201213 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:16 PM) I'll guess Andy Wilkins and Matt Heidenreich. That's awfully optimistic. I don't expect Myers to hold much value, but what would be the point of them trading for those two? Maybe Heidenreich and someone with a bit more value than Wilkins. The Sox have a history of trading guys soon after a promotion to try and improve the player's value though.
July 21, 201213 yr Author QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 02:15 PM) Rosenthal is about as good as it gets in baseball. I couldn't care less if CSN says the Sox haven't confirmed it. Somebody tweeted that Myers father told him his son got traded to the White Sox. It's happening.
July 21, 201213 yr Well, I'm 100% sure KW talked to Gavin about him. ■11:$7M, 12:$11M, 13:$10M club option ($3M buyout) A commitment of $6.5-7 million dollars, with that buyout. One would think we didn't give up much at all to clear that buyout from their payroll obligations. So we have buyouts now for Peavy, Youkilis, Thornton and Myers now.
July 21, 201213 yr Um, I guess I'll say it because nobody else has. The dude literally punched his wife in the face. I hate women. But c'mon now. I ain't supportin' this dude. This is a terrible transaction.
