Yup, the game today tore the space time continuum.

No doubt the Sox have a good team this year, but there's no way of telling if it'll be a magical season.

The division race is way too close to call (games against Det. and KC the key?) and if we do have to settle for the wild card, there's absolutely no way of telling how we'll do in that game.

If we can get into the real playoffs, a real series, that's when we have a chance finally to go on a magical run. I'd feel confident if we ever get to that point and have Sale pitching Game One in the first real playoff series. We'd have a fighting chance cause Sale, Liriano, Peavy and Floyd ON PAPER is a good playoff rotation.

I'm taking Quintana over Liriano 10 out of 10 times in the postseason. 11 out of 10 times against Floyd. Just the reality greg, Quintana is our #3.

Thou doubteth the Flying Serpent?

The mighty Quetzlcoatl is not amused.

I doubt Cooper, Ventura and KW would go with Quintana over Liriano, however.

Liriano has only been bad once in 5 starts. The team is 4-1 when he goes to the bump.

There's also the added factor of the innings pitched issue with Quintana...why push him harder than he's ever been pushed in his entire professional baseball career when you have Liriano with playoff experience?

Liriano and Sale can get K's when they need them. That's very important in close playoff games with runners in scoring position and less than 2 outs.

If we got in the playoffs the rotation should be: Sale, Peavy and then Liriano and Quintana(not necessarily in that order), I couldn't care less if there's 3 lefties, they're your 4 best starters at the moment, it's a no brainer.

Yup. Gavin can stand by for a clutch long relief appearance if need be.

It's going to depend on who's throwing the best at the time.

We have no way of knowing who that will be now.

I hope the Sox have a new song for this postseason if the team makes it to the postseason. People accuse me of living in the past with Jenks, Ozzie, Pods, Dye, Crede, Buehrle, etc., but even I want a new song, a new theme to the postseason.

How bout "Fly Robin Fly?"

You don't pick a song, it just happens.

I could listen to Journey every so often- mostly for the cheese factor prior to 2005, but my copy of their Greatest Hits cd hasn't been within 10 ft of a cd player since. Only thing I could compare it to is having enough at a party to the point where you begin choking down warm saliva and looking for a bathroom, but finding a warm 24 oz can of Steel Reserve and polishing it off instead.

It doesn't help that there have been like 30 teams since all over sports that have gone with Journey for seasons that end with the team getting bounced in the first round.

This is true, the song would find us.

Is that like how We Are the Champions found us after game 4?

I'm right with you there. I was in my late teens during the Journey era and sure they had plenty of air time but they were never close to being a band I liked a lot. "Don''t Stop Believin" makes a fine slogan but associating the song with the 2005 Sox never quite clicked with me.

This is about the time in 2005 where adversity finally struck that team.

I love the White Sox and I love 2005 but I'd be perfectly fine if I never heard that song again. Steve Perry is an opportunist.

It's funny, but I attach SOUTHSIDE by Moby to the 2005 championship moreso than Don't Stop Believin anyway. I remember when that song was played at the beginning of Mike and Mike on ESPN after a big win when it became apparent that the Sox were really going to win it. It sent chills down my spine. I wasn't used to my team getting that much coverage on a national scale.

That wasn't Steve Perry's doing. It was Aaron, AJ, and Joe that made it happen. Perry just went along for the ride.

I suppose, but that song still sucks... well to me it does.

You know it was a road trip to Baltimore that brought that song to life in 2005!!! Joe, Row, & Pole at a bar in Balti.
