July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) That is exactly what is being done from the sounds of it. Right. Didn't know if that was illegal at a certain time period or something.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:40 PM) If we got Owings and Davidson I'd be giddy! Ditto, personally as long as Owings was a part of the deal I'd be giddy, dude could be nasty.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) I would also take Ian Kennedy back if I had to I agree. Plus, Kubel and Kennedy are both guys who have shown success in the past, so its not of the question that they both remember how to play good baseball again next year either. I actually really love the idea of Kubel and Kennedy coming back to the Sox as throw ins to balance out cash in the deal (Overall, I think the D-Backs would have to add 4-5 million to their payroll which is certainly doable for them regardless of what they say). Could turn out to be moves that really help the team next year, and if they suck, it's only one year of Kubel and you can dump Kennedy. Edited July 30, 201312 yr by Paulstar
July 30, 201312 yr Yea, Kubel could help even out the money and that might work if we dump Rios. The Sox certainly have been willing to add overpaid veterans in the past. But Phil acts like he's a centerpiece.

July 30, 201312 yr Arizona is now the frontrunner for Peavy. https://twitter.com/GordonEdes/status/362282082677956609
July 30, 201312 yr This might be a bad suggestion, but would it make any sense to package De Aza in a package with Peavy to ARI if it got Adam Eaton back as one of the prospects? Something like: Peavy and De Aza for Kubel, Kennedy, Eaton, Owings, and Holmberg I don't know, probably unrealistic and I am just coming up with random ideas because I've fallen in love with Eaton as a prospect.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:49 PM) I like Towers as the guy we can get to overpay. He does have some major league ready pieces with not place to play them. Owings and Davidson should be up but are blocked by Hill, Gregorious and Prado for the forseeable future.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) I think the D-backs can keep their cash and up the return in prospects. Bad wording on my part, I meant add 4-5 on their payroll.
July 30, 201312 yr finally a reason to be excited again. Something is going to happen other than the games.
July 30, 201312 yr Quote: John Perrotto #Pirates and #WhiteSox have at least discussed the parameters of a trade in which Jake Peavy and Alexei Ramirez would come to Pittsburgh in exchange for Jameson Taillon, Alex Dickerson and at least one other prospect. #MLB #BUCN 29 minutes ago Link Anyone report this yet. That would be one hell of a get!!
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:55 PM) We'll almost undoubtedly get Holmberg back if Peavy goes to Arizona. Near lock. Holmberg, Davidson, Ownings for Peavy/Lindstrom yes please
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:54 PM) finally a reason to be excited again. Something is going to happen other than the games. Quite frankly, the Sox are in a better position right now than being an 83-85 win team, "competing".

July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) Quite frankly, the Sox are in a better position right now than being an 83-85 win team, "competing". Really, I don't buy this at all. Go watch a game and repeat that.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) Holmberg, Davidson, Ownings for Peavy/Lindstrom yes please You're missing the Dback perspective...they'll need to dump salary (kubel, McCarthy, Kennedy)

July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:57 AM) Really, I don't buy this at all. Go watch a game and repeat that. In a sense I think we are, the years of KW "rebuilding on the fly" left this club (at least IMO) feeling like there was no direction. It was watching the ChiSox dwindle in mediocrity and without no hitters and perfect games and deadline deals they were actually really disappointing to watch for repeating the same mistakes in player choice. At least now there is a direction of finding guys that are talented and close to the majors and attempting to ACTUALLY rebuild.
July 30, 201312 yr I have a browser window opened up to https://twitter.com/search/realtime?q=%23Wh...ox&src=hash and literally one minute apart there were tweets saying that Arizona is the front-runner for Peavy and that Arizona is no longer interested in Peavy.
