January 4, 201412 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 06:11 PM) It's Garry Brown. http://connect.masslive.com/user/gbrown413/posts.html Been in the BBWAA since 1977. OK, thanks for clarifying that. Makes much more sense.
January 4, 201412 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 05:52 PM) Thomas-less ballot: https://twitter.com/RRepoz/status/419252914310217728 Turned in a ballot with 9 names. No room for Frank. Old guy, by the way. Retired a few years ago. As far as I can tell, Frank is at 101/112- 90.2% Vote for Jack Morris but not Thomas....alllllrighttty then
January 4, 201412 yr This Garry Brown guy voted for Morris, Raines, Bagwell, Biggio, and Edgar Martinez last year. So he voted for Biggio on his first ballot, but not Frank Thomas.

January 4, 201412 yr The Tribune writer's picks are in: Voting for 6, 7, or 8...I just don't get it. Some truly awful ballots. https://twitter.com/RRepoz I wouldn't be surprised if Fred Mitchell voted for Kent as a favor to Mark Gonzales, who is a Bay-area backer. It's crazy that people with such terrible ballots can vote.
January 4, 201412 yr This is pretty cool...grading each writer's ballot, with links to their columns and/or list of votes. http://tangotiger.com/index.php/site/artic...ect-hof-ballots
January 4, 201412 yr The Tribune writers took the death blow to Piazza. I'm still saying Biggio is going under 75%. I also think Sosa, Palmeiro, and maybe McGwire go under 5%, which would be great. McGwire, Sosa and Palmeiro were considered HOF only because of the PEDs. While Bonds and Clemens were HOF caliber prior to the PED use but because of the use many won't vote for them.

January 5, 201412 yr QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 4, 2014 -> 08:12 PM) Piazza not going in is somewhat criminal imo Not if the other steroid guys are getting denied too
January 5, 201412 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 4, 2014 -> 09:13 PM) Not if the other steroid guys are getting denied too Except that he's guilty by association, and I have yet to see any valid association of Piazza with steroid users.

From that era, if he looked like a steroid user and hit like a steroid user, then I would say he was a steroid user. Don't see why he should get the benefit of the doubt.
