There we go.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Hopefully as a mascot

Well, this got awkward

hopefully as a pinch runner

Welp cant say I didnt smile a little when I heard the news. Welcome back Paulie.

So I guess the Sox are using two roster spots for a DH platoon.

LETS MELT THIS MF-ING SITE DOWN

I guess I don't really have a huge problem with it as long as he doesn't take away too many ABs from Abreu. With Konerko on the bench, they really need to find a way to get rid of Keppinger. Maybe a bench of Konerko, Garcia, Danks and backup C. Where does that leave Semien? AAA? Or do they plan on just going with a 11 man staff and having 5 on the bench. With a spot taken up by a pinch hitter who can only play one position they almost have to have 5 on the bench.

Doesn't make a ton of sense, but oh well. So long as they use a Dunn / Konerko straght platoon at 1st base. Definitely silly.

We went from rebuilding to a retirement home :)

Oh well, this isn't too big of a deal in my opinion. Sox are gonna be one of the worst teams in the majors next year anyways, hopefully PK can go out on a better note than he would have this year.

When the answer wasn't "no" four weeks ago, it was always going to be an eventual "yes". So this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

2014 has the potential to be just as bad as 2013. Hope the draft class is good in 2015.

Why do I get the feeling this will at some point come at the expense of Abreu's progress? Which doesn't make sense but I've learned not to trust the Sox here.

At least the Sox are making moves, right? Right?

My thoughts exactly. Gotta play the veterans, they've earned it.

Surely he takes a pay cut? Right?

Yeah, I'm trying to figure this out also

Starters:

DH Dunn

C Flowers

1B Abreu

2B Beckham

SS Ramirez

3B Gillaspie OR Semien

LF Viciedo

CF DeAza

RF AGarcia

Bench:

DH/1B Konerko

C Phegley

IF LGarcia

OF Danks

That squeezes out Keppinger unless you cut one from the pitching staff.

If no moves are made, Leury probably goes to the minors, he has options and they're unlikely to buy out Keppinger.

If he's getting anything more than 2 or 3 million, then that would be ridiculous.

12 man staff. I don't see any way they can't do that. Maybe they can go stretches with 11, or essentially roll with a pseudo-26 man roster (demoting and recalling guys as necessary).

I think you're right regarding Keppinger though, though the idea can be to basically play Alexei every single game at SS and if he gets hurt to the point where he has to miss time, you demote a pitcher and bring up an infielder. I still hate that.

JR loves his son.

Couple things...

If the Sox view Semien as an every day player and not a bench/role player, then it does him no good being a once-a-week guy on the bench

If anything, it could potentially help Abreu having Konerko around. As players they are similar in profile (one dimmensional, power/on-base guys).

The White Sox aren't winning anything next year, so what harm does it do allowing the Franchise guy a proper "farewell season" with "his" team?

I dig it. *shrug*

How much of a farewell is it if he's sitting on the bench or he's on the DL with a back injury or he's barely hitting like he did last year?
