Sources: #Yankees separated themselves on Tanaka, but not by much. #Cubs, #Dodgers, #WhiteSox and #Astros all were involved.

To get back on Tanaka track... LOL... I have some real concerns with signing any player to the amount on money this guy got and others like Pujols and A-Rod and some others. That's a ton of bank notes for a long period of time for someone you just don't know can perform at the big league level let along stay healthy. He was a phenom in Japan for sure but even as good a Darvish is - just to compare - he can be beaten even if it's 1-0 or 2-1.

Just wanted to chime in and say I was dead wrong on Tanaka signing with the Yanks. Didn't think it would happen but it did. Given the money it took to grab him I'm glad the Sox didn't get him. At least now the madness of this thread will die.

So the Yankees are paying $175M over the course of 7 years, or about $25M a year if you spread it out evenly......

Good f***ing luck, jackwagons.

The lure of the unknown is so ridiculous in sports. 25 mill a year. Wow.

There's plenty known about Tanaka. He just hasn't made a pitch in the majors.

The four above him have Cy Young Awards.

Yep...but the Yankees needed him badly. Their pitching was looking spotty at best this season.

Yea. Called that all along.

Every time you do that someone else will come along and post a new thread about it because they don't see one. Eventually it drops off of the front page and you can unbunch your panties.

I knew someone would do that lol

Wait a minute, the cubs didn't sign him???

But but but.... They said they wouldn't be outbid!!!!

As far as I'm concerned, this thread still involves the White Sox until I know the ballpark of what we offered

Now add in what the Yankees have to pay MLB for going over the luxury tax level and being a repeat offender doing it.

They need to give a portion of that to revenue sharing, and then make it REALLY hurt the Yankees to go over the luxury tax limit.

Multiple baseball writers reported that every offer was in the 6 year $120 million range as a starting point. Don't know how true that is.
