Emery said Conte will be given the opportunity to win a starting spot(and would like to talk extension with him). That could just be talk, but it's out there so it's not tooooo crazy to say what dasox said.

It's been said that DLP will be the backup....Garza was actually better than him last year according to PFF.

Garza was pretty solid last year. This is a nice depth move and gives some additional flexibility within the interior line as an injury to a guard could mean Garza slides over and DLP slides into the starting role.

I'd have no problem with Freeman as the backup QB. There's some talent there. If anyone can get the best out of him it should be Trestman.
