honestly I don't know what they see in Veal. It's not like his stuff is overpowering and if he just got his control problems fixed he'd be good. His stuff isn't even that good.

He's got good stuff. He's certainly not electric like a young Damaso and he's pretty useless if he can't throw strikes but the stuff is there.

good job mentally by veal to buckle down. Encouraging sign at least a little bit from him.

Worth pointing out that even with our pitchers' poor control, the home plate ump has had a horrible second half to this game. Screwed Jones twice and Veal didn't get the benefit on a couple of curve balls that went through the zone and dropped away.

Didn't get to see a ton of ST and didn't realize how tiny Nieto is.

 

Anywho, trouble a brewing.

Veal walks way too many.

It's ironic, because veals can't really walk around at all.

Veal is a great LOOGY if he can get his breaking pitch over to compliment his mediocre fastball. But when he can't get the breaking ball over, he's going to be in fastball counts all the time. Which results in two things: walks and hard hit balls.
