Flowers' hot start might make him ML average this year if he doesn't completely tank the rest of the year. ZiPS has him projected at a .326 wOBA for the year with a .309 wOBA the rest of the way. Nolasco got quite a bit of money, a lot more than what we should be paying for a innings eater. Maholm would have made more sense, but he'd probably get killed in the AL. If he can get an advantage in some counts, maybe he'll break it out. You could tell he didn't want to give Car-Go a BP fastball so he tried to get ahead with the offspeed stuff and got himself into a 2-0 count because of command issues and generalized fear of challenging him.
