This is true no matter what time it is.

Because my desk is 291 miles from USCF.

Viciedo couldn't lay off those damn breaking balls

It's a bit curious that De Aza didn't get the start, especially with Johnson on the mount, who is probably going to give up some gappers to left center. Oh well, Viciedo has started well and despite that strikeout I don't mind playing him against some RHP to see if he's turned a corner verse them.

We should just DFA Dunn...

89 mph fastball right down the middle.

and they start it off with a lead off triple.

Velocity not there so far... Ugh.

He has no chance of being successful in the majors with a fastball in the 89-90 range, as his command has always been his biggest question mark.

a pitch at 91 from johnson but he is missing his spots horribly

Hovering around 90 to start, that might be adequate for a 5th starter type, but it's not what any Sox fan wants or expects out of him.

On the plus side, his breaking ball looks pretty good to start.

Somehow gameday has his slider at basically the same speed as his fastball.

Only a 2 to 4 mph difference

Come on Johnson

he missed that ball by 6 inches with the glove, hopefully he has a cup on.

no confidence in the fastball, not good.

Johnson just doesn't look right and his demeanor is horrible

He looked the same in his first start. Seems to be a little tight, which is causing his arm to drag.

Needs more towel drills between starts!

Anyone want to guess what Boggs ERA is in AAA? (Dont look)

Johnson's slider just doesn't look very good. To the naked eye, he actually seems to be telegraphing it just a little...his motion is a bit slower on that pitch.

Of course we can't judge him until May comes around and he's not pitching in Colorado, but there's no way he's going to get away with pitching in the low 90's with his lack of command/confidence and secondary stuff.

Let's just hope he's going through the typical dead arm period out of the spring and his better velocity comes back or he's going to be in a lot of trouble.
