The problem is that Semien, Erik Johnson and Webb have all fallen on their faces so far. Davidson's sporting a 650ish OPS at Charlotte. Garcia's injured.

 

That leaves Abreu, Eaton and Conor Gillaspie as the lone positives (and Noesi, maybe). Obviously, Abreu's a huge piece, and Rodon should be as well, so they're still stuck in a bit of a quandary, because by trading/dumping Ramirez, Beckham, Viciedo/DeAza and Dunn, you're talking about replacing 4 starters already, and Flowers/Nieto would be 5.

 

Nobody's going to cry over losing most of those guys, but there's just no way they'll replace Alexei adequately with what we already have in our system...maybe one of Sanchez/Semien is adequate or a replacement level player, but I'm not even counting on that at the moment.

 

But do you honestly think they can afford to wait around on Tim Anderson, Courtney Hawkins and Montas? Why would Hahn hint at putting Rodon in the rotation as soon as next year if they're targeting 2017 and 2018?

It's a rebuild. Stay healthy, get experience, move on. You are still trying to figure out how to plug holes to contend.

 

Also, Dunn isnt a starter and I dont think they dump all 4 whatsoever.

Welcome to the rebuild and "prospects". Seriously did anyone expect everyone to succeed? If it were that easy, the Royals would have won something decades ago. They have been doing this for 30 years now.

We have 2-3 players that are legit all stars during a rebuild. Thats pretty amazing. The one thing that really hurt the process is Garcia's injury, though I think he will be back before the season is over.

webb is my guy since summer, I even mention him in the top 10. beside that, he is growing and learning. not everyone

is going to have a great night everynight. there is a learning curve.

If the Sox hold that kind of sale for the trade dead line the Rays will have their hands full as far as competition for the #1 pick June 2015. Two holes in the rotation ( jury not in yet on Noesi), a horrible pen and then trading half or more of your starting lineup is going to make this season even more difficult to bare.

 

But we all knew this season was about discovering what we have at the major and minor league levels. At least going into the off season Hahn will have a better idea of what holes need to be filled and what resources he can use to fill those holes.

I'm guessing they all do. Part of the process of signing contracts with the team(s) are setting up passports for all these guys, and then renewing them when necessary.
