He got a $6.75 mil signing bonus right? I think if he was cuban the bonus would reach...$6.75 million.

Because he's the son of Cuban immigrants?!?

No one said "cuban national", it was just "what if he was cuban"? He is :).

Oh no, almost 7 million! Isn't that close to the price of Keppinger & Downs for only 1 season?

Who cares, Rodon is a cheap lottery ticket with pretty good odds. Signed him cheap.

If Rodon was a Cuban what do you think the bidding would reach?

first the stupidity of this post is too much, no one, I mean no one is introducing race into the conversation

except you...... I am a minority and never once did I mention race.

you are then mixing apples with oranges Rodon is a college drafted player and there fore limited with slot allotted

money and is in no way a free agent where is the sox org wanted to can walk away. where does the idea of

" If Rodon was a Cuban what do you think the bidding would reach?" came from.

RE TEX.... also with your comment, again apples and oranges...... jesssss can anyone stick to the what is said without

taking liberties.

I'm pretty sure he means if he was not subject to the draft slot protocols (like Cuban free agents) and was openly bid on how much would he get, and the answer would be...a ton more.

then why was he directing the comment to me and my post..... and still, if he was a free agent, Cuban, DR, Asian

then say it.... FREE AGENTS.

I was talking about the draft.

sorry, my Indian (temper) is up.

Rodon is now a member of the Sox organization, has huge upside and that's all that matters to me at this point. Nothing much left to say til Rodon makes his pro debut. Go Sox!

Actually you did enter race into the conversation. I was simply referencing one of the top debates in contemporary baseball, a debate with deep boras ties. I meant Cuban national obviously. Sorry to get your itchy trigger finger itchin.

how, when and where, during this course of conversation did I bring up race.

again, I was talking about the draft and money allotted salary, how does race plays into it???

You are being absolutely ridiculous. His point had absolutely nothing to do with race and you know it. His entire point was that if Rodon had been an amateur free agent, he would have been paid more than the bonus the Sox gave him. Whether he be Cuban, Puerto Rican, Japanese, whatever. I'm sure the Cuban example was used because of the influx of Cuban players the past few seasons. Stop embarassing yourself by trying to start a race issue that does not exist.

This one is my fault, I was attempting to make a joke that clearly has not gone over the way I intended. The original statement was that he'd have gotten more if he was Cuban, clearly accidentally crossing up "being able to sign as a full free agent" with "being cuban", so I decided to make the "He actually is Cuban!" joke and clearly has not gone well. I apologize if anyone wound up offended, pin that one on me and let's drop it please?

i am being absolutely ridiculous, try getting your facts right. I was talking about salary cap with ref to signing bonus. this post was about Rodon

signing and his agent asking for what they were asking for. this has nothing to do with race ...... or free agents, which if it was there is another

thread about it. I posted b/c I was admitting I was wrong. that was all. look at the timeline, it was he who was introducing the race comment. again

race has nothing to do what so ever in a draft and slot allotted signing bonus. free agent is not in the initial discussion.

second if you are going to make assine statement that clearly is spelled out, you are guilty of either not reading or is misreading and attacking.

Balta thanks fro trying to disfuse the situation by taking the blame.

peace

Nothing at this point. Last I read it would be decided after Rodon's signing week ( this week) is over. Guess he's working with the Dash coaches for right now.

Rodon will supposedly be at The Cell tonight. Has anyone heard anything about a Press Conference, Conference call or anything scheduled for today?

I haven't seen anything on Twitter, and the two new Bulls are throwing out the first pitch.

He'll probably pop in to TV and radio as other top picks have done in the past.

https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/490267266970550272

White Sox will use Carlos Rodon exclusively out of bullpen this season, just to manage workload. Did same thing with Sale

It certainly appears they're going to give Rodon a shot to get big league time this season if he performs.

Ya cool with me.

He hasn’t thrown a pitch in anger since May 16, so we are not going to rush this thing.

Ha.

Buddy Bell on the Score. Said Rodon will pitch in Arizona on Tuesday and next Saturday, and probably will make his first appearance for Winston-Salem on Wednesday, July 30.

I would be interested in clicking on a new Rodon thread at the top of PaleHose if it was there. Maybe the first post could continually update and add a line everytime he pitches, like a BR game log page, and then the discussion would be ongoing.

I only mention this because he's a special prospect and I feel like some people probably don't enter many minor league game thread discussions. He's gonna be fun to keep tabs on even for those here who have little interest in our minors.
