If they moved to the suburbs it's whatever, it doesn't bother me. But as long as the Sox are a Chicago team there is zero chance they are leaving 35th and Shields.

If new ownership took over in the next 10 years and wanted a new publicly funded stadium, would you support it?

No. Enough with stadiums. They have plenty of money to build their own. Fix the schools and the pot holes. I had jury duty Monday at 26th and California. At lunch I walked a couple of blocks west on 26th to a taqueria. One pothole on my way there gave one car a flat. On my way back, 2 cars got a flat from the same pot hole. Obviously, I am simplifying things, but there are far more important things public funds need to be used for than building billionaires stadiums to make more money.

I'm surprised how many people said they would stop watching baseball if they moved. Are there that many fans of the team that really aren't fans of the game in general?

I've honestly started to become this way. I still like to play the sport but if it wasn't for the Sox, I don't think I'd watch at all.

EDIT: that's actually kind of sad for me to admit because I used to be obsessed with the sport.

I love baseball, its easily my favorite sport but if my team moved on me they would no longer be my team. Of course if i were to move and the white sox stay in chicago they would still be my team.

Couldn't root for the Cubs.

It would depend where I lived. Do the Sox keep the name?

They'd likely become my second team with my first team being whoever is geographically close to me and none of the following: Twins, Royals, Indians, Tigers, A's, Yankees, Cubs.

I moved and the Sox don't give two s***s 'bout me... so why should I give two s***s 'bout them!

Seriously, I'd give ONE single s*** if they moved.

I would have loved to see the Sox in the same Loop area as the Bears but obviously that'd be really tough on people from the suburbs. The Cubs being located in a drinking village and the Sox being located in a middle-of-the-road neighborhood really makes a difference. A stadium with the skyline right behind would blow away the view of projects.

Reinsdorf was hoping that the Addison stadium would come into fruition. The residence of that suburb voted against it. If they built the stadium in the South Loop, I think that would have been a gold mine. The South Loop is really looking great these days.

In 15-20 years what happened to the South Loop will be in full swing in Bridgeport, Bronzeville... the whole area around the Cell. Big part of the reason I think, in the next <20 years when Reinsdorf passes and the new ownership group goes hunting for stadium options, the furthest the Sox realistically move is across the street. Those parking lots will very soon disappear.

The Sox would be incredibly stupid to abandon the real estate they have now.

Just curious to know people's responses on this topic. I'm also a Bills fan and a requisite for acquiring the Bills is that the new owners keep them in Buffalo, and that Jon Bon Jovi's group has essentially gotten them kicked out as a result, it's awesome.

Still, it's a slow time in the season, and I want to know. I think I know the answer - I know my answer - but am interested in yours.

Don't worry, it most likely be pagula, buying them.

On the sox question... NO

I moved to California when I was 22 , now 56.Haven't even come close to being a Dodgers or Angels fan. I've had the MLB package for 20 yrs maybe. So yes I'd still be a fan. Sox for life.

My dad remained a football Cardinals fan when they moved from Chicago to St. Louis . Not sure if he feels the same way now that they moved to Phoenix.

Well they almost moved once to Tampa/St Pete. I think it would have been strange to be called the St Pete White Sox but attendance would have been about the same I guess

Cubs would probably be my new team because they're Chicago, but if an AL team ever came in I would end up rooting for that hypothetical team. Similar to when the Sox almost moved to Seattle. Charlie O who owned the Oakland A's planned to move the A's to Chicago and Comiskey park and rename them the White Sox had they actually moved.

Side question: had the Sox moved to Florida chances that there would have been an AL expansion team in Chicago in 93/97?

Owners don't like to buy stadiums. They are a terrible investment. Owners are always threatening to leave if they don't get a stadium. It's time governments pull their bluff.

I'm that way with the NFL. I usually have my annual rant why I like MLB over the NFL.

I agree. The Sox aren't going anywhere. They were in the middle of the pack last year in revenue during a 99 loss season. There is no open market out there that could give them that except maybe Vegas, and that is an entirely different issue, or some teams would have moved by now.

I was a Colts fan (Bert Jones era) when they were in Baltimore and it didn't bother me they moved to Indy. Sad that I never took the opportunity to see them at Indy when I lived in the Midwest.

I'm all for the Sox moving to a new state, one that doesn't have MLB if it generates more revenue and it's spent wisely. I don't think Indy would be a better place. Face it. When it comes to baseball it's a Cubs town. How many WS victories will it take? When did it all go downhill? I remember in the 80's-90's the Sox would sell.

Not Vegas. There's more tourists than people.

I'm not a fan now

Where do u live? Why the heck would want the White Sox to leave Chicago? That's insane. They've been playing there since about 1900. WTF? With all due respect, I've never read something so horrible from a Sox fan. Wanting them to move???
