Alfredo Simon sucks

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 12:31 PM)
Whenever he's up with a man on first, you need to do a hit and run. If not, that's going to happen way too often.

3rd time this year. Actually 2nd. One of the DPs he grounded into was first and second. Considering how many times he strikes out, and contact isn't a strong suit, sending Flowers on a hit and run could be suicide as well.

And there's been a few that have been booted that should have been an easy DP. Given his 57% ground ball ratio, it's worth the shot trying to open up another hole for him. He needs all the help he can get.

I haven't seen a good drop of the shoulders on a popup in a while, well done Gordon.

So basically he hits weak ground outs to the middle of the diamond, doesn't drive the ball, strikes out too much and doesn't run well.

Perfect.

We all miss Konerko's patented shoulder shrug/bat drop when things are going poorly.

That affectation would fit in perfectly with this season.

That slider was FILTHY.

Alfredo Simon sucks

I am to lazy and really don't care all that much but didn't he give up three or four runs early in his last outing vs our White Sox only to settle down and breeze through 7 innings?

I looked, but couldn't find stats for the typical NL pitcher that hits. Any idea how Sanchez compares?

Yep, Avi 3 run homer in the first

Simon has not looked good at all so far.

An error on Sanchez wonderful

NL Pitchers: .128/.153/.158

Sanchez: .159/.207/.204

Fun fact - AL pitchers are actually hitting better than NL pitchers this season.

4.

Rodon's OPS against coming into this game was .714. Hard to understand how Oakland isn't better with those three frontline pitchers in the Top 18.

Sale 8th. Cole Hamels up to 27th. Hector Santiago 38th.

Think the Cardinals regret that Shelby Miller deal? Also, Dan Haren 30th when the Dodgers basically gave him away hurts.

Hammel 11th??? (Guess we got the wrong ex-Cub there). And Francisco Liriano 5th in all of MLB, not exactly a Don Cooper success story.

Abreu looks lost today.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 01:51 PM)
Abreu looks lost today.

Simon's got that low and away pitch working to him and Abreu has had a lot of trouble with that lately.

Cabrera .350 in his last 16 games but still only 10 XB hits nearly halfway through the season...simply astonishing, according to the Tigers' announcers.

Ouch, great slider on Miggy.

91 MPH slider wipes out Cabrera. (Jenks-esque)

He's got those two sliders (one, the more sweeping one like Sale to the back leg against RHB), the much tighter Liriano version in on the hands and he's also throwing more change-ups today.

Tigers a notorious fastball hitting team.

Best fastball up to 97.

Another walk.

Cespedes has single-handedly kept that offense afloat for much of the last 4-6 weeks.

Definitely deserves to be in the All-Star game, not sure if he'll make it or not.

Of course, if the White Sox picked him up next year as a FA, he'd probably go into the tank and start airmailing throws from the OF like post PEDS Sosa.

Martinez in scoring position for, well, Martinez at the plate.

Last 29 games for Avisail, .155.

Sanchez-like.

Low walks, high K's, BABIP readjusting as predicted.

The only way out of that is getting a ton of XB hits, which hasn't happened.

Great, 7 in a row quickly retired.

Is that right, we just had a stretch of 6-7 games in a row without any SOX batters having consecutive hits? Just wow.
