Non White Sox Rumors

Only problem is that our fantastic manager doesn't know how to platoon vs LHP/RHP

We have that issue right now as it is. Alvarez's numbers are quite similar to LaRoches, he's got 1 year of arb eligibility remaining so he's at least moderately cheaper, he's worse on defense but we have the DH slot and they don't, LaRoche has more of a recent NL history and might even break out of his current slump if he were sent there.

Basically it would be a trade of the White Sox "Saving some money" for "Taking on a headcase". Seems like a decent enough gamble. We paid $12.5 mil per year for Alvarez's production out of the DH spot this year already.

I'm not sure who Robin would pencil in at DH if he didn't have LaRoche playing, more or less, full-time. The guys on the bench are guy you pinch hit for, not guys who can step in as DH.

The players Oakland received for Scott Kazmir are RHP Daniel Mengden (#19 on the Astros top prospect list, now #13 on Oakland's list) and catcher Jacob Nottingham (#22 on the Astros top prospect list, not mentioned on the A's list yet)/

MLB trade rumors mentions that Mengden throws 4 pitches, and he could develop into a starter, although some scouts think of him as a reliever. Nottingham has a decent bat, but he may not stay at catcher.

Just DFAd Gillaspie- same player, different team, a little worse of a year.

Source w/ knowledge of Padres' thinking: "They're seeing how this series with Miami goes. Some in the org. still believe they have a chance"

Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson going to the Mets. Jazz hands.

In-division trades are all the rage.

Tigers are considering trading Price and Cespedes. Starting to look like Rick might have overplayed his hand waiting so long to trade Shark.

This Cespedes situation is strange. His contract calls for him to be released after the season, and released players cannot he signed by the team that releases them until the middle of May, so unless he agrees to an extension during the season, he is truly is a rental for the Tigers or any team that trades for him.

Sources: Momentum building toward Hamels trade. Offers have improved since no-hitter. Teams asking for less money, offering better players.

The five teams with the most recent interest in Hamels: #Cubs, #Dodgers, #Rangers, #Yankees, #SFGiants. Not listed in any particular order.

Wow...the Rangers, you'd have to think they're thinking more long-term than this season, although they have a slight chance THIS year.

Definitely have the minor league pieces to make it work, and the budget/payroll.

That's the kind of move you would have expected out of the White Sox a decade ago, the equivalent of trading for F. Garcia in 2004.

Rangers continue to be involved in Cole Hamels conversation; they envision a time when they can team him with Yu Darvish. https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/625302192203956225

Sources: #BlueJays still talking to #Brewers about Fiers. TOR numerous balls in air: Samardzija, Cueto, Price if he becomes available, etc.

I'm hoping we can get Shark off the market before Price become available.

Better hope shark gets traded today. This weekend was going to be the decision deadline on if tigers sell or not.

Cueto to KC

Since when are the Rangers sellers? I thought they were looking to buy.

Trying to both I've heard. They're trying to get Hamels because he's locked up long term already and would fit well in front/behind Yu next year.

Looking long-term buy on Hamels and short-term sell (and then re-sign) on Gallardo.

Have the depth of C. Lewis, Martin Perez, Harrison and Nick Martinez all not in the projected rotation for 2016.
