Sox may have run themselves out of a rally here.

5/8 of Cubs relievers are long relievers...

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 03:59 PM)
nope. empty pen

Well, to be a little charitable, as hot as it is a warmup is 2 minutes for most guys out there.

That said, someone ought to be throwing when the inning break hits.

And evidently, bullpen up and going.

KKKKKKKKKKKKK

14

14 strikeouts, and Sale has now struck out every hitter in the Cubs lineup besides 1.

15 strikeouts. Ties career-high. His day should be over

Have yourself a game Chris

You are killing it out there.

Watch Robin trot him back out there for the 8th...

Ladies and Gentlemen... Chris Sale!

If his pitch count wasn't so high, he would have a good shot of getting 20 today.

His ERA has dropped from 3.47 to 3.32

Chris fu.king sale

Too bad the Saladino/LaRoche error cost him some early pitches.

Ok 7 innings is enough pull Sale

I'd be fine with that. He can go 130 today.

Dude, there's been, like, 47 no-hitters/perfect games in the last five years. It's not even a big deal anymore.

But striking out 20 doesn't happen every day. In fact it's only ever happened 3 times in baseball history. Now that would be special.

193 to 208 strike outs on the season

If he does go out for the 8th, I sure hope we give him an extra day of rest before his next start. Maybe give Erik Johnson a spot start.

would be really nice to get 2 runs here so we can somewhat confidently hand it to the pen

True. Striking out 20 is much more impressive than a no-hitter post-2010.

It wouldn't be awful management to let Sale pitch to one more hitter. Honestly, giving Sale a curtain call against the Cubs with a career-high strikeout total could be the best highlight for the rest of the season, and a few more pitches isn't gonna kill you.

Nate Jones warming up
