White Sox scouting report on Jorge Posada

Featured Replies

What is interesting about this report is it was written by Mike Pazik who a couple weeks later would be named the Sox 3rd pitching coach of the 1995 season, replacing Don Cooper who was reassigned to the minor league staff.

Pretty sure we still have some of the same scouts

Well, at least we got Quintana

Posada was probably a steroid user.

When I saw that yesterday, that was first thing I thought of. Scouting reports in the mid-90s? Grain of salt.

What makes you say that?

I don't really see what any unfounded speculation about PED use has to do with this topic in the first place. Not to mention that if you're saying you're glad we passed on him because you think he wound up using PEDs, you're a bit naive.

Before we mock the Sox, let's go see everyone's pre-draft scouting report on Chris Sale.

I don't see this being that big of a deal. It is scouting. I bet lots of other teams might have had similar scouting reports. What did teams say about Chris Sale, who fell to us? Its scouting...more often then not you are wrong.

Boom goes the dynamite

I don't really understand why Rovell thought the Sox report was even worthy of posting. What's his point? Like has been pointed out, scouts are routinely wrong. Just look at any draft in any sport.

I still found it interesting and it was well timed since they retired his number in New York over the weekend.

Was Bryce Harper a catcher?

At the time of draft, yes.

What would be interesting is to redraft the 2010 draft.

I have to imagine Harper, Sale and Machado would be the Top 3.

Throwing Matt Harvey into the mix as well, who goes #1 would be interesting. And out of that bunch, who had Chris Sale as the only to NOT suffer a major injury. Wow.

The Posada scouting report was written while he was in the minors. It wasn't like it was something that kept the White Sox from signing him.

Harvey might not even be the top Met, Noah Syndergaard is in that draft too. I don't think he has suffered an injury yet.
