White Sox peripherally make news for Cub Hating

Maybe the marketing department should extend this idea to the regular season at USCF...when the two teams are playing at the same time, fans would get $1 off a beer (limit of four at a time) for the first homer a Cubs' opponent hits, $2 off for the rest of the game for the second homer, $3 off for the third homer, etc.

Might as well give something tangible back and simultaneously embrace the current bleak reality of Sox fandom, rather than pretending to ignore the Northsiders.

It would definitely be more fun than the Papa John's promotion (runs scored for pizza discount) with our tepid offense.

I think it's kind of funny, but it reinforces the idea that Sox fans are more concerned with the Cubs than their own team. I'd be against any Cub-centric marketing campaign by the Sox. Just get better.

Backup campaign that goes in tandem with the Stand Pat Plan.

Because the White Sox bringing in Cespedes, Norris/Wieters, Zobrist, Desmond, C.Davis and Heyward (pick any combination of two or three) is about as likely as Harold Baines playing the role of Frank TJ Mackey in Magnolia 2.

This isn't a good look for sox fans.

I just put it here since it came up as a headline story at yahoo news and also on the front page of Bleacher Report.

It's also crept into the Trib and even the Obama story about pulling for the Cubs. So the biggest national Sox headlines in weeks are ironically Cubs-related.

So what, Sox fans hate the Cubs. Cubs fans hate the Sox. Go to Wrigley Field the next game and go to any stand outside selling hats and t shirts, and Sox Suck t-shirts can be had at any of them. But they don't care about the Sox. LMAO. The Giants/ Dodgers rivalry started when they were on the East Coast. It was fine to hate the other team then. Why is it not fine to hate the Cubs now? The Sox do play them every year in games that count. They have received a ton more attention for doing less the last 30 years.

I encourage every White Sox fan to hate the Cubs. They still suck.

Also Caulfield your plan would be illegal in the great city of chicago.

I read where it's illegal to give away for free but can't it be discounted, two for one, 50 cents, etc.?

Nope. No dynamic pricing allowed. Happy Hour was illegal even til about a month ago and with that you still have to advertise the times and have it set in stone

Obviously you don't remember the hate spewing from Cub fans in 2005...LOL. Supposedly they don't care about the Sox, let's put it this way they sure had a funny way of showing they didn't care.

What DOES bother me is that the Cubs, the butt of late night jokes for decades have made the post season eight times since 1981. The Sox only five under JR/EE.

I understand the A.L. for years saw the Yankees and Red Sox lock up two of the four playoffs spots on a regular basis but still that's a piss poor record for success.

Where was all of this One City bulls*** 10 years ago? Cub fans have the most gigantic inferiority complex of any sport out there. Somehow if you aren't rooting for them you are an orphan kicking puppy killing communist listening to nickleback. Get over it.

If we're all as smart of fans as we think we are, we should be cheering for the Cubs to win it all. Yes, I said it.

We should still hate them at the same time.

Confused? Don't be.

This White Sox Organization has been sitting back and lazily throwing the same crap at the wall since we won in 2005. We were hungry after the town got Cubs fever in the 90s and early 2000s. That hunger brought us a World Series. The lack of hunger has brought up Gordon Beckham. Twice. Adam Dunn. Twice. Sorry, correction - Adam Dunn and Adam LaRoache aka Adam Dunn 2.0.

We are currently wasting the primes of 3 amazing baseball players at the top 5 at their respective positions in the world. Chris Sale, Jose Abreu, and David Robertson are amazing talents and would be quite possibly top 3 at their positions in the right city/situation if they aren't already.

What has this White Sox Organization given you as a fan the last 5 years that makes you happy? Not much. Although I am excited about Carlos Rodon!

As White Sox fans we pride ourselves in showing up when the team deserves our hard earned money. Making them earn it is our reputation. They simply haven't of late. It's a pleasure to watch some of the starting pitchers throw, we can't take that away from them, but outside of that and Jose...

The future doesn't have to be dark. We have some top talent. We have some other pieces. We need to make some radical changes, yes. We need the hunger back. The Chicago Cubs winning the World Series might do it. The Chicago Sports media would be more Cubs heavy than ever before, which is fine. I don't want to hear any more from the White Sox until changes are made. REAL changes.

Fairweather White Sox fans (and yes, we have them too) would head to the blue side. Fans of baseball that enjoy winning in the city might head north a lot more. Young fans will be choosing blue over white and black. The White Sox are losing more than just baseball games, they are losing a revenue battle in a highly competitive industry of business.

A Chicago Cubs title will be a miserable thing to tolerate as a White Sox fan. It won't be fun. It won't make your life better...right now.

However, if it brings upon radical and necessary changes to the Chicago White Sox organization, bring it on. I can take it.

I've taken 10 seasons of crap since our White Sox won the series. I can deal with Cubs fans gloating about a World Series, because I know what it feels like. Just smile and nod and tell them "Welcome to the club."

I highly doubt a Cubs World Series would bring the necessary changes. If anything, making our front office panic would be a bad thing, because they'd be more likely to make desperate moves and take unnecessary risks that will just set us back further. We didn't win a World Series in '05 because the Cubs were close in '03, that's a stretch.

I agree 100% if the Sox end up making moves to better the organization. I hate this Band-aid lineup they keep putting out there every year. It is going to suck when/if Cubs end up winning but at the end of the game f*** it. It's just a game.

I'm not sure if you were watching the same David Robertson the final half of the season.

More confidence in Quintana, Eaton and Rodon going forward.
