That isn't quite what Hahn said. There isn't a mention of cost. Hahn says, “I think ideally we’re going to be adding pieces, though, that are younger and more controllable for an extended period of time."

He says "controllable" in reference to time, not cost. Jason Heyward is younger and the he'll be controllable for an extended period of time. Same with Upton, Rasmus, etc. Not saying we'll get one of those guys, just that Hahn doesn't mention cost.

If they want Rasmus now, why didn't they want him last year when he was cheaper and w/o losing a draft pick? He's a decent defender, but strikes out too much, OBP too low, head case at times.

None of those FA hitters excite me like Prices or Grienke or even Zimmerman would, were the Sox looking for pitching.

Isn't every team looking for young, cost controlled talent?

Yup. Offseason fluff, I guess. Coming next, "Rick Hahn states that the White Sox are looking to win more games in 2016"

I didn't say they want Rasmus now. As to why they didn't get him last year, I'll assume that they, like every other team in baseball based on the contracts they got, assumed Melky would be the better player. Again, I was just listing off some free agents who are younger.

http://m.sfgate.com/news/article/Jed-Lowri...-to-6657610.php

Ran across this article. Basically with the A's getting Jed Lowrie they will either move Brett Lawrie or Danny Valencia. Both of them are drawing interest from AL teams. Sox could use either of them tho with Brett lawries offense falling in line with sox hitters I would rather get Valencia who produced better numbers.

Valencia had a career year yet Toronto DFA'd him he was claimed by Oakland. What a windfall for them but he is entering his age 31 season already. Real nice power numbers and OPS last year between the 2 teams. Plays OF too.

Lawrie still only going to be entering his year 26 season and many on here have wanted him for years. Decent pop , poor on base skills . OPS pretty steady the last 4 years between .706 and .729

I think getting either one would be great. Lawrie is supposedly more available. I can see the Sox being all over trying to get Lawrie. Still young and controllable and produces a positive WAR but only a 92 OPS+ . Also plays 2nd base.

What do you guys think it would take to get Lawrie?

I bet Oakland would accept a package of Danish/Beck/Saladino for him.

Naw I'm good. I'll keep those three players.

Why? None of them are that great.

Lawrie isn't good though.

He's better than Saladino IMO.

Bit of an overpay only because of minor league depth. To me Micah Johnson and maybe some A ball prospect.

I think they were needing bullpen help.

Maybe they can throw in Rangel Ravelo. Give him back.

This guy seems to be credible. He talked about Cargo for Montas like a couple weeks ago so here's more.

@gastelumcharlie: Lo de Almonte de @whitesox y Kahnle de @Rockies es apenas un aviso de que están platicando, WM en Nashville puede surgir algo de CarGo
