Good for Alexei, I'll always root for him. I'm sure if the Sox are in contention and Saladino is struggling, we'll hear rumors of him as a trade possibility for the Sox.

I doubt that he would come back.

Doesn't have a choice if he's traded here. That's fathom's point.

If the Sox are in contention and Saladino is struggling, Anderson will be up.

And then when the Sox are in contention and Anderson is struggling.. then maybe Alexei

Thats a nice thought but I don't see it

I'd rather not see Anderson until 2017 at the earliest even if Saladino is struggling. If he's up that better mean he's killing it at AAA (.900 OPS with solid defense), and even then I'd almost still rather keep him down there the whole season.

Anderson will either be traded at the deadline or playing in Chicago this season.

I'm sad to see Alexei go but I'm extremely happy to see him find a home.

Where is Desmond going to sign now? I can't think of a logical suitor besides us, and I can't see us doing that.

Sign him to a 1 year deal and then offer him a QO next year.

Wonder if a team goes after him as an outfielder. Tigers maybe?

When the Sox pulled Sanchez out of Winter Ball to work on his SS skills, Alexei was a goner.

Sanchez and Saladino are placeholders until Anderson gets promoted, anyway.

AR time on the Southside needed to end...............good luck in SD

We all hope. It will be interesting to see what Alexei received. I think most of us assumed the Sox would just give him the $10 million this offseason.

I sure did.

San Diego usually isn't the place to go to show teams they were wrong when they figured you can't hit anymore.

Gonna guess 1/6.5m w/ 1m worth of incentives

I'd be curious to know what the Sox brass thought of Alexei as a person. Not that he's a bad guy or anything like that, but as a SS who made his fair share of mental mistakes, I wonder if they just wanted to part ways short of an ultra-low dollar figure.

The radio guys were definitely questioning his focus the first half of last year

Avi Garcia now has the longest position player tenure with the Sox - August 9, 2013.

Congrats to Alexei.

Onward and upward for the Sox.

Minnie dying really messed with him to start the season, of that I have no doubt.

I know we expect players to be robots, but it can have a big effect.
