Byung Ho Park is starting to figure it out.

I would not be surprised to see the Twins go on an extended run and climb back into the the race (albeit at the back of the pack) by June 1 at the expense of the Indians. 0-9 was pretty disastrous, but since then they've looked like a pretty good team.

Michael Brantley's back with the Indians...

Michael Fulmer called up by the Tigers. Also, with the way Justin Upton's struggling with the Tigers, we just MIGHT want to find a DH who has a successful track record hitting in the AL.

Jose Berrios got hit pretty hard by the Indians in his debut.

But Byung Ho Park very quietly with 5 homers for the Twins (yet another DH candidate we had a shot at).

The Royals look human. Still not a lot of power in that lineup. Starting rotation is going without a true ace at this time. Soria is a weak link in the bullpen.

I'm not saying we'll beat them. I am thinking we should be able to hang in there and not have them run away with the division. We shall see but our rotation compared to theirs, I don't see any reason we shouldn't go .500 vs. KC this year. It will be sad if it's something like 13-6 KC over Sox again.

Moustakas has 7 homers and Perez and Hosmer are both hitting pretty well.

The offensive issues for the Royals are mostly Cain and Kendrys Morales right now.

And yeah, basically flipping Soria for Madson hasn't worked well at all. Would have been much better off keeping him, but he had the opportunity to return to closing work (like in Philly and Toronto) with the A's so hard to blame him when he was the 3rd or 4th option in KC after Davis, Herrera and kind of split the 7th with Hochevar when he returned.

lets see a full season from him before we start pining for him as the guy who got away. The Sox made him look terrible in the sweep up in Minnesota

Well, one thing's for sure, when he came up in critical situations later in the game against the Indians, MacAllister was throwing all gas at him...nothing offspeed he could wheel on and pull.

The major test will be if the typical Korean "slider speed" bat can handle fastballs, especially up in the strikezone.

All these guys the Sox should have signed or traded for, why were you saying Parra and Desmond at the time?

Desmond's got his OPS back in the mid 600's. Too early to write him off.

It's probably a wash between Parra and Austin Jackson, neither have set the world on fire but Jackson allowed the Sox to move Eaton to RF, where he's obviously adjusted quite quickly, so just that move alone has markedly upgraded two positions because it got Avi off the field and it's also had a positive impact on Melky, who is playing a bit better defense (rising water lifts all boats) as well.

Francona just did something quite gutsy in Philadelphia.

He used his closer (Allen) in the BOTTOM of a tied extra-inning game in order to escape a bases loaded situation with one out. You almost NEVER see that on the road, unless it's the playoffs. Refreshing change of strategy.

Sox schedule from May 20-June 19

3 vs KC

4 vs Cle

4 at KC

3 at NYM

3 at Det

3 vs Was

3 vs KC

3 vs Det

3 at Cle

This is where you want them to build up a lead before then, and just take games off the calendar by playing .500, minimum.

Well they're setting themselves up nicely. Take care of your division and you'll be on a nice path to the postseason.
