2016 Cubs catch-all thread

Ya, the Cubs are the best team in baseball imo but Arietta is not the best pitcher. Kershaw has been, is and probably will be for some time the best pitcher in the game.

Fair, but going back to last July it's hard to argue Arrieta isn't a valid "best pitcher in baseball".

My particular problem with the "even better than Sale" crack. Chris Sale is a great pitcher that was (until this season) wasted on a bad team. It's not hard to understand why he was left out.

Yes, because they happens just as frequently with Felix Hernandez...whose Mariners have gone even longer without making the playoffs than the White Sox.

He's Hawk with out the math skills.

At least Hawk can do basic math.

Peavy against Cubs with wind howling out. Won't be pretty for the Giants

Heyward just made an incredible catch but might have badly injured himself

Looks like Jason Heyward just broke his collarbone

Trout trade proposals on Twitter will be even crazier now

Did Kasper go down and check on him?

Only to make sure Tom Ricketts doesn't have a heart attack.

DFA time for Peavy. Probably worst starter I have seen this year

X-rays are clear. MRI tomorrow. MRI issues tend to be pretty scary though. He definitely looked bad.

Edit: Side contusion. Out 3-5 days.

He's very fortunate. That looked pretty nasty.

Coop'll fix him...

Randall Simon's clearly the worst.

Peavy is #2.

I think Randall Simon could probably out-pitch Alfredo Simon right now. (I think that's who you are referring to :) )

cub fans are accusing Mad Baum of doctoring the ball

That is one fan base that should not accuse any other team of cheating.

I had hoped Zobrist was old and last year was the beginning of the end for him. Instead, he's one of the best in baseball this year (5th in fWAR).

He's always been awesome. Last 2 years may be pretty bad on that deal though.

I think Zobrist will probably be the type of guy that just falls off the earth and goes from great to awful in a short amount of time. He maximizes every bit of physical talent that he has on a daily basis. When his body says no you are done, even a little bit, he will wont be able to max out and he will be bad.

BTW, Cubs of course miss Kershaw next week in a 4 game set vs Dodgers
