Adam LaRoche retires

So the press was at the team meeting taking photos? You're better than that.

Obviously not all team meetings are closed door. Which is also why you have no idea if he was there in those either. But when the team is meeting and the press is there he was in the picture.

Even if he's not a distraction it's a bad precedent to set and they were right in going forwar establishing team rules around it.

  • @thekapman This White Sox story is one of the most bizarre I have seen in a long time. Good sources tell me it was a condition of LaRoche signing here.   @thekapman You are wrong. 100% that he coul

And those are two guys who were here last year and used to it. Maybe the new guys came in and thought it was a distraction.

Plus nobody is going to come out and say "good, it was weird he was here." He's probably a good kid and it's like having a locker room manager around, but it sets a bad precedent and clearly there was a reason management did something now.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:23 AM)
I'm sure some Nationals players struggled being themselves/censoring themselves with a kid around all the time, too.

If that is the case, then you would agree, KW not changing the policy to totally ban kids is a half assed jesture, correct? The thing is while players didn't have their kids around as much as Drake, there are 25 guys and someone will bring his kid one day, another guy the next, plus with bat boys, and Make a Wish etc. there are kids around the Sox clubhouse every day whether Drake LaRoche is there or not.

So the press was at the team meeting taking photos? You're better than that. If there are photos, that isn't a true team meeting, something bat boys wouldn't have access.

Why do you keep arguing this. There is no need of any players kid to be around the team all the time. Plan and simple.

I find it disturbing all the cheap shots being taken at Laroche. Not necessarily here, but all over the media. BAD FATHER, KID CAN'T READ..stuff like that. Lot of angry/disturbed people out there.

I linked an article which stated he didn't have total access, and he knew his place.

The White Sox were right when they asked Adam LaRoche to limit his son's presence in clubhouse, says @notthefakeSVP. http://es.pn/1pw7gFf

Which is why Drake shouldn't have had his own locker and unlimited access---last year.

Again, I would be fine then if KW just banned kids period. But he didn't. If they are a distraction, this is a half assed effort on his and the team's part.

I find it annoying that Ken Rosenthal was trying to make us look bad. Just saw this

Those of you who say the #WhiteSox players complained about LaRoche’s son being in clubhouse should read this: http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...tuesday-meeting

I disagree. I'm sorry that I'm not going to jump on board and praise him for being a great father. He's not a great father.

Nailed it. Keeping your kid in a baseball locker room is not good parenting. The kid should be in school.

Dont you know? You can only be a great father if you take your kid to work with you everyday, the rest of us are bulls***.

Kids being around isn't a distraction. None of them should be around 100% of the time. Adam LaRoche has an employer. He doesn't get to make the rules. He was given the mandate from the employer and he decided to take his ball and go home. Good f***ing riddance.

All he did was asking him to dial it back. Didn't say he couldn’t bring him in. What so hard to understand. I really think you like to argue for the sake of arguing.

How would you know if he is a good father or not?

I love how some people want to use Fielder and Griffey as examples of why this should be allowed. Those are two kids who ended up f***ing HATING their fathers.

No I don't. If he is a distraction why would it be OK if he still is a distraction only less of the time? It makes no sense.

DA it sounds like your trying to argue with people for the sake of arguing...it's been getting ridiculous the past few pages

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 11:14 PM)
Doesn't this almost make LaRoche look worse? There was an agreement. Things can change. They had a discussion, apparently a week ago, and LaRoche continued to bring his son into the clubhouse every day. Another conversation is had, and LaRoche picks up his ball and goes home? Circumstances change in business every day.

Worse than his batting average, K rate, and general suck factor?

Here's an article from last summer. And apparently KW didn't even realize the kid was around so much until this spring.

Adam said that he doesn't believe in school. He thinks that Drake will learn growing up in a baseball clubhouse and taking standardized tests instead. I disagree. I think he needs to be socialized and be with kids his own age instead of growing up around adults in a baseball clubhouse. I didn't think this stance was that controversial. This entire situation is so weird. Why would anyone want a 14 year old kid around their workplace constantly? I can't believe anyone is siding with LaRoche on this.
